Story Outline:

Lü Jidong had finally managed to temporarily set aside Lu World Group’s work and give himself a long vacation. He came to Taiwan, where he lived in his childhood, and while having afternoon tea at a café, encountered a reporter interviewing Yang Nini. His identity was recognized, and he quickly took a taxi and left.

Yang Nini was angry because Lü Jidong bumped into her while paying the bill and didn’t apologize, so she immediately got in her car and chased after him…

Chapter One:

The Lu World Group’s business spans globally, with its headquarters standing in the prime business district of New York, USA, a 52-story building of magnificent and spectacular design.

Entering the headquarters, the high-ceilinged lobby is luxurious and grand, with a massive artistic wall painting hanging on the wall, making the spacious and bright hall even more noble and imposing.

For powerful figures in global political and business circles, the wealthy Lu World Group is a corporation they desperately want to curry favor with; for ordinary people, being able to work at the Lu World Group headquarters is a shared dream.

A few years ago, the old CEO Lu Tianhong retired, and the one who took over the CEO position was none other than his proud grandson, Lü Jidong.

Lü Jidong was born into the prestigious Lü family in southern Taiwan. At five, his entire family immigrated to the United States. At nine, his parents died in a plane crash, and he and his only sister Lü Xinyi grew up under the strict guidance of their grandfather Lu Tianhong.

Following Lu Tianhong’s arrangement, Lü Jidong concealed his family’s young master status during college, entering a subsidiary of Lu World Group and starting from entry-level positions.

After graduating, he pursued master’s and doctoral degrees while continuing to accumulate work experience in the group’s subsidiaries, preparing to take over Lu World Group.

He spent five years rising from a low-level employee in a subsidiary to an executive assistant, passing through strict trials and tests from Lu Tianhong and unaware managers.

Three years later, he took over Lu World Group from Lu Tianhong, inheriting a vast international business empire and becoming one of the world’s most valuable men.

“Also, Sally, Lucy, Annie, Donna, Rodanna…” Without noticing Jidong’s unusual state, Fang Shicheng’s finger pointed at Jenna’s photo and quickly moved to several other photos.

Anyway, after mentioning one, a few more wouldn’t make a difference. If they wanted a chance to be selected by his master, they would first need to queue up and pay a registration fee as his errand runners; otherwise, he couldn’t be bothered with such extra work.

“They all come from wealthy families, charging three thousand per person is already cheap.” He discovered that since his master’s recruitment rate skyrocketed, in recent years, many rich young ladies had lowered their standards to come to headquarters to work, just to get closer to his master. They even competed fiercely for positions as tea servers.

Unfortunately, even after entering headquarters, they would have no chance to introduce themselves to his master. Because the busy master would never waste time on female employees.

However, this wasn’t right for the master! Based on their years of cooperation, Fang Shicheng stood from a friend’s perspective and earnestly advised:

“Jidong, you can’t keep working like this. You must make some time to find a girlfriend.”

“Since when did you start interfering in my personal life?” His expression changed.

“I think… probably…” Fang Shicheng seriously considered, “From the year you took over Lu Corporation and were constantly hounded by reporters!”

From the first day of following Lu Jidong, he knew his master was low-key and valued privacy, never liking exposure in front of cameras or frequently attending social events. Therefore, before becoming the group’s CEO, very few people knew his status as the Lu family’s young master, allowing him to maintain a private life.

But since taking the CEO position, his handsome and charming appearance was chased by media almost daily, with news constantly being reported, making his master feel disgusted whenever he saw reporters, cameras, or filming equipment.

“Since so many girls are coming for you, just pick one you like and marry her.”

“You think it’s like buying vegetables at the market, where you can just pick randomly?” He shot a dismissive glance.

“Anyway, you don’t like anyone, so marrying anyone would be the same?” After a pause, Shicheng recalled a tabloid’s recent insinuation about his orientation, “Or is your ‘orientation’ really different from most people?”

“Tell me, after being by my side for years, have I ever touched you?” Lu Jidong said impatiently.

“I guess I’m probably safe-looking.” He was joking, but some took it seriously.

“Watch your words!” As soon as he finished speaking, whoosh—he forcefully threw the file at Fang Shicheng.

Fang Shicheng’s eyes widened, trying to dodge, but… slap! Direct hit.

“Lu Jidong!?” Touching his painfully struck nose, Shicheng jumped in anger.

“Be careful next time.” Smoking and leaning back in his chair, he glanced at Fang Shicheng.

If not for their long friendship that went beyond the typical boss-subordinate relationship, Fang Shicheng would have been fired long ago.

“I’m not just saying random things! It’s your own behavior that’s suspicious. How can you blame me!?” Fang Shicheng protested loudly.

“You—”

“Just think about it. You’re from a wealthy family, good-looking, with high status. Girls wanting to get closer to you are countless, but you? You have absolutely no reaction!”

Lu Jidong frowned at him. In their years of friendship, he had never used such an excited attitude to discuss personal matters.

“In your twenties, you could say you were young and didn’t want to marry too early. But you’re thirty-three now, well past the ideal marriage age. If I didn’t know you, I’d also suspect your sexual orientation.”

Sitting back in his chair, smoking, Lu Jidong’s gaze wandered blankly towards the pale blue sky.

“It’s not like you haven’t met girls you liked, but every time someone hints at marriage, you turn your back. Risking an argument, Fang Shicheng asked directly: “What’s wrong with you!?”

Fang Shicheng hoped Jidong would give him an answer, but he didn’t. He just smoked cigarette after cigarette, exhaling white mist, completely forgetting Shicheng’s presence. He noticed Jidong had been increasingly strange lately.

Previously, if he encountered troubles, Jidong would still chat with him. But since a week ago, after learning that his runaway sister Xinyi was hospitalized in Taiwan due to a miscarriage, and after flying there to see her and her partner, he had become frequently distracted, as if something was tormenting him.

“Do you really not understand?” Exhaling a smoke ring, Lu Jidong looked lost.

Just about to give up and leave, Fang Shicheng was startled by his sudden speech.

“Do you know why Xinyi ran away back then?”

“Yes, because in that family, she had no freedom at all.” Shicheng nodded. Under the old man’s strict discipline, the Lu siblings were like prisoners in a luxurious cage, wearing fancy clothes.

“Since that’s the case, how could I let another woman live such a life?” He smiled faintly.
