Reborn as the Wind

“Second brother doesn’t like her and doesn’t want to save her.”

Situ Jin replied after a pause, “Qi Feng’s judgment of people is indeed better than ours.”

Qi Feng then arrived with a cold glance, “Did something happen at the hospital?” Given Feng’er’s personality, she would have waited for him otherwise.

Situ Jin’s expression darkened, “Nothing.”

Qi Feng didn’t press further and picked up the box he had thrown on the sofa, heading upstairs. Situ Jin leaned back on the sofa, rubbing his forehead, looking tired.

Although Sui Feng was not his biological daughter, he had cared for all the children equally over the years. He never knew how she had changed!

Initially, when she was with Ning Yuan, he thought it was youthful recklessness. But now, did she ever truly care for her family?

He felt sadness; after all, he had raised her for over twenty years.

Ying Feng was frightened; otherwise, how could he make things difficult for Ru Feng? How would he cope if he knew the truth?

As night fell, the sound of the front door opening could be heard.

Situ Jin stood up from the sofa and walked upstairs. He hoped Ying Feng would remain unaware of the truth. Given Ru Feng’s situation, she would struggle without his care.

He felt too old to be involved in young people’s affairs.

The woman he loved had waited for him in the darkness for a long time. Their cherished daughter had grown up safely and had even acquired a healthy body. He had no more worries, only concerns about her future.

Once the matter was resolved, he would feel at ease.

Qi Feng searched upstairs and found her in Ru Feng’s room.

The bed was neatly made, and she lay with her eyes closed, seemingly sleeping soundly.

Qi Feng sat on the sofa by the bed, observing her sleeping face through the curtain slits.

Time passed, and Ru Feng remained still, while Qi Feng stayed quietly seated.

Eventually, tears began to seep from the corners of Ru Feng’s eyes, sliding down her cheek. A light sigh, and then a slender finger wiped away her tears.

Ru Feng did not open her eyes, allowing her tears to flow silently, quickly wiped away.

“Okay, stop crying,” Qi Feng lay down beside her, gently embracing her. “We won’t cry for those unrelated people.”

“Second Brother, I’m very sad.”

“I know.”

“But I haven’t said anything yet. How could you know? Second Brother is lying,” she sniffled.

Qi Feng pressed her head to his chest and softly said, “Just by the way you wrinkle your nose, I know what you’re thinking.”

Ru Feng’s muffled voice came from his chest, “Second Brother, why am I so sad?” Despite her resolve, she still felt sad.

Qi Feng stroked her hair. “Because you are different from her.”

He could sense the expressions of her father and Feng’er, suspecting that the woman was scheming something critical. “What were you originally planning to do?” he asked.

Ru Feng’s body stiffened. “What?”

Qi Feng’s expression remained unchanged. “Don’t try to fool me, be honest.”

Ru Feng paused before saying, “When Big Brother called, I could tell he was very sad. Although I have many complaints about Sister Sui Feng, I don’t want Big Brother to be hurt. If I could help her, I thought that would be good.”

Qi Feng’s heart tightened. Ru Feng cautiously continued, “You taught me some medical skills, so I went to take a look.”

“What if you found her in real danger?” Qi Feng’s tone turned serious.

Ru Feng glanced at him again. “Mom’s notes said that for patients with excessive blood loss, one could consider using…”

“Using what?” Qi Feng interrupted.

Ru Feng pressed her lips together, afraid to say more.

“I’m asking you, what would you use?” Qi Feng’s voice was calm but threatening.

Ru Feng gathered her courage. “Second Brother, I’m confident I won’t have any problems.”

“No problems?” Qi Feng turned to her. “You must remember: to gain something, you must pay a price. Do you think by saving her life, you won’t suffer consequences?”

Ru Feng stared at him, speechless.

Qi Feng released her, sat up, and after a long silence, a sad smile crossed his face.

Feng’er, you can feel heartache for others, but if you hurt yourself, I would be pained more than anyone!

“Second Brother!” Ru Feng tugged at his clothes.

Qi Feng didn’t turn back, “I’m very angry right now, don’t talk to me.” He couldn’t control his temper.

Ru Feng stared at his back, “Then can you tell me, what price did you pay for my resurrection? Getting something always requires a price.”

This time, Qi Feng hesitated. After a long time, he replied, “Of course I’m different. I’m a genius!”

“Is that so?” Ru Feng jumped off the bed to face him.

In her clear gaze, Qi Feng lowered his eyes, “Yes!”

Ru Feng looked thoughtful. “Second Brother, sleep here tonight!” she said, climbing onto the bed.

Qi Feng took off his outer clothes, “Okay, I’ll take a shower first.” He glanced at the box on the sofa and added, “I bought you a purple dress.”

“Okay, I’ll wear it for you to see tomorrow.”

Qi Feng nodded and went to find pajamas.

As soon as she saw her second brother disappear outside the door, Ru Feng jumped out of bed, grabbed an outer coat, and ran out. “Dad, wake up, Dad!”

Situ Jin was drowsily pushed awake by his daughter, asking confusedly, “Ru’er, what’s wrong?”

“Dad, how can I make my second brother say something he doesn’t want to say?” Ru Feng’s eyes sparkled with anticipation.

Situ Jin’s eyes were half-closed, “Dealing with men, just hug a bit, kiss a bit, seduce a little…”

Ru Feng nodded, and before she could hear more, she dashed away.

Left behind, Situ Jin was half-asleep, wondering what he had just said, before dozing off again.

When Ru Feng jumped onto the bed, Qi Feng had not yet returned. She patted her chest and pulled up the blanket.

Since her return, her second brother had shown no unusual behavior. It was only his recent emotional outburst that made her suspicious. She remembered how she used to sense his nightmares but wondered if he had closed off his perception to keep her from knowing.

Her palm began to sweat. If this was true, her second brother must be hiding something from her.

Whatever her second brother needed to hide from her was definitely not something ordinary.

When Qi Feng lay on the bed, Ru Feng rolled into his arms like a cotton ball. “Second brother, you’re so warm!”

Qi Feng smiled, hugged her tightly, and said, “Sleep well, don’t move around, be careful not to catch a cold.”

“Okay!” Ru Feng laughed, tilting her head to kiss his chin. “Good night!”

“Hmm, good night!” Qi Feng stroked her hair.

Ru Feng adjusted to a comfortable position in his arms, let out a satisfied sigh, and closed her eyes to sleep. The air was filled with her scent, and Qi Feng’s chest swelled with joy. He smiled for a long time—his greatest happiness in life was in his arms.

If only time could stop here.

Unbeknownst to him, Ru Feng had secretly opened her eyes. She was also waiting for dawn, gripping her clothes. Why wouldn’t her second brother dare to sleep? What was he trying to hide?

Halfway through the night, Qi Feng’s body temperature grew higher and he moved slightly away from Ru Feng, curling his body. She could feel his trembling, but his breath remained steady.

“Ru’er?”

She heard him whisper softly and kept her eyes closed without answering. He sighed, clenched his fist, and moved away slightly.

Ru Feng’s heart ached, but she remained motionless.

Until the sky brightened, he went to the bathroom and then returned to lie beside her as if nothing had happened.

Pulling her back into his arms, Qi Feng curved his mouth slightly.

In the morning light, he suddenly felt hot and wondered if he was having an episode again. He opened his eyes abruptly.
