His expression changed when Ru Feng opened her eyes, meeting his flushed face. She cuddled against him, softly calling, “Second brother!”
“Hmm, you’re awake?” Qi Feng’s voice was hoarse, and then he subtly moved back.
Ru Feng leaned in closer, hugging his neck, which made Qi Feng stiffen, his hands on her waist, somewhat embarrassed. “Why are you moving around?”
Ru Feng laughed and inched closer to his face. “Second brother, can I ask you something?”
“Okay, go ahead,” he agreed quickly.
“Did you sleep well last night?”
His face turned bright red from her closeness. “Good, very good.”
Ru Feng kissed Qi Feng’s cheek, “Second brother, you’re not telling the truth.”
Qi Feng pushed her away and sat up, breathing rapidly, “Ru’er, stop playing.”
Finding his blush amusing, Ru Feng hugged him from behind, “If you don’t tell the truth, I won’t let go.”
Qi Feng pulled her hands away, “If you have something to say, wait until we get up!” He stood up and rushed out of the room.
Ru Feng stared blankly, realizing Dad’s advice didn’t work. She had tried to get him to talk, but he remained silent. If he wouldn’t talk, she’d catch him in the act tonight.
Back in his room, Qi Feng bitterly smiled and tried to calm his breathing. He wasn’t a saint and had moments of impulse, especially in the morning when holding her. He lowered his head and closed his eyes, mindful of not wanting her to see this side of him if she didn’t want it.
For several days, I stayed sleepless at the hospital. Now, awakening with the wind, my emotions have stabilized. Yingfeng breathed a sigh of relief, returning home and sleeping until noon the next day.
He stretched lazily as he walked out of the room but stopped midway, noticing Qifeng sitting on the sofa in casual clothes, deeply engrossed in a book.
Looking up at his question with impatience, he said, “I came to help you at work, and you’re scheming against my sister?”
Yingfeng was stunned but quickly responded, “Saving a life, Qifeng. You’re being stubborn.”
Qifeng replied, “Just because I didn’t want to save her, you forced Fenger to persuade me?”
Yingfeng turned his gaze slightly, “Suiwind is also my sister, Qifeng. You can’t expect everyone to live in their own world. I’m sorry for Fenger, but even if I could do it again, I would do the same.”
“Good, very good!” Qifeng spoke slowly, “You should know Fenger’s personality. She knows I’m unwilling and would never trouble me, so by forcing her, you’re pushing her. You’re from the Situ family; you know Fenger’s talents. What do you want her to do for your sister?”
Mom Qiu tried to smile, comforting her. “Okay, let’s make three wishes this year!”
The first wish is for Mom Qiu to stay healthy; the second is for her to be happier; the third is for Qiu Ruofeng to find happiness wherever she is. Ruofeng wrote these wishes on paper and stored them in a glass bottle.
It was an unusually warm night. After Master Jiang left, Mom Qiu and Ruofeng prepared a table full of delicious food, chatting while eating in a surprisingly pleasant atmosphere.
Until the lights were vibrant, a knock at the door rang out. Ruofeng jumped up—could it be her second brother?
Opening the door, her smile froze, “Qiu Chi?”
Wearing a long windbreaker, Qiu Chi looked even more slender. He removed his gloves and handed her a box. “I’m here to fulfill your birthday wish from the past two years.”
Ruofeng stood still, not reaching out.
“Xiao Feng, who is it?” Mom Qiu walked over, stunned upon seeing Qiu Chi.
The beautifully packaged box hung in midair, creating an awkward atmosphere. Qiu Chi withdrew his hand, paused, then unwrapped the package. Inside was a women’s watch with a subtle metallic sheen. He took it out, his voice low. “Your third wish from two years ago was to have the women’s version of the couple’s watch I took back then.”
Ruofeng closed her eyes; that was Qiu Ruofeng’s wish, now too late to fulfill.
She didn’t move, but Mom Qiu took the watch. “Ending the old wish means you no longer need to dwell on it.”
Qiu Chi glanced at her, realizing why the old man went to such lengths for this woman, even adopting her daughter to conquer her. Indeed, she was interesting.
His gaze returned to Ruofeng. “Master Jiang told me about the third wish you made last year, and I’m still in time to help you fulfill it.”
Qiu Ruofeng, would you like to see the beautiful city scenery with me?” A sad emotion rose in her chest. She lowered her head. Was this the most sincere expectation left in her subconscious?
She lifted her head, her eyes bright, “Qiu Chi, thank you for still being willing to fulfill that third wish.” She smiled brilliantly, making Qiu Chi narrow his eyes. “Thank you, Qiu Chi, for drawing a perfect period to those ten years of unrequited love.”
She went to her room to change, called Qi Feng, and told him about Qiu Ruofeng’s story, asking, “Second brother, I’m going to help her fulfill her wish. Will you wait for me to come home before sleeping?”
After a brief silence, Qi Feng asked, “You’re going to accompany her to see the night scenery?”
Ruofeng smiled, “Yes!”
Qi Feng, with reluctance, said, “Qiu Ruofeng is already dead. What wish could she have?”
Ruofeng’s voice softened, “Some wishes are unforgettable even in death.”
Momentarily stunned, Qi Feng softly asked, “Wind’er, do you have such a wish?”
She had. At the time of her death, she had an expectation she could not let go of. But now, she laughed softly, “It’s you, second brother. You must be happy. That’s my wish.”
Qi Feng silently grinned. After processing her words, he said, “I won’t worry you. I’ll be with you.”
“Okay!”
Ruofeng’s vision blurred slightly. “Second brother, I’m so glad I’m alive. Otherwise, what would you do?”
“Silly girl, how could I bear to let you be alone? I’m your second brother who can do anything. No matter where you are, I’ll find you.”
“Mm!” Ruofeng sniffled. “What should I do, second brother?”
“What’s wrong?” Qi Feng’s voice was a bit nervous.
Ruofeng tilted her head back. “I really want to hug you right now.”
“Xiao Feng, are you ready?” Qiu Chi knocked on the door outside.
Ruofeng wiped her eyes and shouted, “Coming soon!” Then she hurriedly said to Qi Feng, “I’ll hang up now. I’m going out.”
“Okay, I’ll wait for you,” Qi Feng replied.
Nearby, Ying Feng, who had entered the study to get documents, noticed his brother’s silly smile. “Is there a problem with the company’s report?”
“What?” Qi Feng, his smile sparkling like stars, replied.
“Why are you grinning like an idiot?”
Qi Feng cleared his throat, but joy still radiated from him. “I’ve decided to abandon the acquisition plan.”
Ying Feng raised an eyebrow. “You’re shifting from an iron-fisted policy to a soft approach? Who has such charm to persuade you? I remember those old guys tried to convince you for a long time, and you didn’t listen to a word.”
“Qi Feng’s mouth curved, ‘I’m willing!’
‘Fine, suit yourself.’ Ying Feng was noncommittal.
Qi Feng sat for a while, his gaze drifting outside. In the thick night, lights twinkled, creating a charming halo. It was truly beautiful. He suddenly stood up and ran out with his clothes.
‘Where are you going?’ Ying Feng and Situ Jin, watching TV in the living room, shouted behind him.
‘I’m going to wait for Wind’er at the door!’
‘Can’t Wind’er come home by herself?’ Ying Feng was puzzled.
Situ Jin smiled, ‘Young people’s thoughts, you wouldn’t understand.’
‘Dad, you’re the old one, okay?’ Ying Feng was not amused.
Enjoying the night scenery, Ruofeng and Qiu Chi had two different moods. Ruofeng was truly happy. The night was beautiful, and completing this journey for Qiu Ruofeng was also beautiful.
Looking at her delicate profile, Qiu Chi finally spoke, ‘You seem to be in a good mood?’
