Ru Feng looked up, her broad smile directed at the item in his hand, “Second Brother, you’re here.”
” I missed you so much.”
“Missed me?” Qi Feng raised an eyebrow, following her gaze to his right hand. “You mean the food I brought?”
“Yes, I knew you’d understand me best,” Ru Feng replied, squinting her eyes.
Qi Feng ruffled her hair and pulled her to sit on a nearby chair, opening the lunch box. “How was your day?”
“Dr. Chen said if I come for rehabilitation daily and practice more, I’ll recover quickly.”
“Hmm!” He nodded seriously. “You must get better soon. I can’t wait.”
The narrative continues exploring the relationships and interactions among the characters.
“Ning Yuan, you don’t want to tell me you also have feelings for Qiu Ruofeng?” Sui Feng emerged from behind him.
Ning Yuan stiffened and turned back. “It has nothing to do with you.”
“Ning Yuan?” She grabbed his hand.
Ning Yuan pushed her hand away. “Please show some respect, Miss Situ.”
“Miss Situ? Hmph, do you also call her that when you see my sister?” Sui Feng’s voice was filled with desperation.
Ning Yuan left without looking back, his voice flat and devoid of emotion. “Much obliged.”
Only after his figure disappeared did Sui Feng cover her face and slowly sit down.
She loved him; why wouldn’t he love her back?
She glared at the charming smile not far away, filled with hatred.
On the other side, Qi Feng was stroking her hair. “I’ll have my brother come pick you up this afternoon. I have a meeting and can’t get away.”
“I know, Li Shan and the others are here, don’t worry.”
Qi Feng turned to the bodyguard nearby, “Li Shan, watch her carefully.”
“Yes, sir.”
Ru Feng rolled her eyes, “We’re not important figures or involved in the underworld. How much danger could there be in a day?”
Qi Feng patted her cheek, “Yes, we have no power or troops, but who told my little Feng to be so beautiful? What if someone tries to snatch her away?”
Ru Feng widened her eyes, “Second brother, you actually just made a joke?”
Qi Feng grinned, stood up, and gave her a light peck on the lips. “It means you don’t know me well enough. Keep working on that. Okay, I’m leaving now, see you tonight.”
Ru Feng covered her lips and glared at him; there were so many people around!
Qi Feng walked a few steps, then turned back and saw her still blushing and glaring at him, unable to help but laugh and wave at her.
Though they were together every day, he was reluctant to leave her side. Short separations were hard for him, and today felt especially so.
He smiled bitterly, leaving with repeated backward glances. Feng’s expression changed, and after a while, she laughed, “How ironic!”
I am his sister, and you are just the girlfriend of his half-blood brother. Are you sure he will take your side?”
Ru Feng snorted, secretly caressing the pearl necklace around her neck.
Sui Feng looked at her coldly and stepped on Ru Feng’s left hand still on the ground.
“Ah!” Ru Feng let out a low cry, “What are you doing?”
Sui Feng squatted down, “You and your monster fiancé should go to hell.”
Ru Feng broke out in cold sweat, “Si Tu Sui Feng, have you gone mad?”
Sui Feng smiled, “Your fiancé never treated me like a sister. He treasures only that idiot. I’ve long been displeased with him. What gives him the right?”
Ru Feng pressed the communicator on her neck and slapped at Sui Feng’s leg. Sui Feng jumped back, then stepped on her again.
Ru Feng bit her teeth, refusing to cry out. She would never show weakness in front of her.
“And you, equally detestable.”
“How have I offended you?”
“Your name is Ru Feng. I hate everyone associated with it. It’s hateful that he listens to you, a stranger. I was his wife, yet he wouldn’t even look at me. Without Si Tu Ru Feng, there will be no Qiu Ru Feng. Won’t they see me now?”
“Sui Feng, do you know what you’re doing? Have you gone mad?”
“I’m not mad, but you’re about to go mad.” Sui Feng stood up, quickly picked up a gardening hoe, and smashed it down towards Ru Feng’s hand. Ru Feng rolled away on the ground, but with her limited mobility, she was soon hit several times, and her right hand was suddenly in intense pain.
“Help! Someone!” Ru Feng cried out, finally understanding her intentions.
Sui Feng then pounced on her, tearing off her clothes and forcefully stuffing them into her mouth. “I won’t let you die so easily. I want you to die in the most miserable way. No one will come here except by calling the bell.”
Ru Feng shook her head vigorously, but Sui Feng dragged her into the innermost room, bound her still-movable left and right hands to the bed corner, and set fire to the curtains and furniture.
In the flickering firelight, Sui Feng smiled terrifyingly, “I’ve sent a message to my big brother and second brother using your phone, saying your phone is out of battery and you’ll contact them an hour after getting home. I told the downstairs guard you have something to discuss with my big brother and asked him to fetch the bag you left at the hospital.”
The door slammed shut. Ru Feng struggled desperately, but the pain left her powerless.
The room grew hotter, the flames larger, and her heart was filled with fear.
“Second brother, hurry, you must come quickly.”
Outside the door, Sui Feng leaned quietly for a while. “Let this end, the story of a woman named Ru Feng. Only by shedding this name can she truly be reborn.” A tear hung at the corner of her eye as she left without looking back.
Ning Yuan arrived at the intersection and saw Ying Feng’s car. He stopped, thinking it was Si Tu Ying Feng and politely nodded.
The window rolled down, and Uncle Chen looked at him. “Mr. Ning, are you looking for Miss Sui Feng? She’s at Xiang Ya Ge.”
Ning Yuan smiled; few knew about his relationship with Sui Feng. “Why are you driving? Where’s my brother?”
“Sir is at Xiang Ya Ge having desserts with two young ladies.”
“Two young ladies?” Ning Yuan’s heart skipped a beat.
“Miss Sui Feng and Miss Qiu, of course.” The green light turned on, and Uncle Chen started the car.
Ning Yuan pressed the car window. “Did you see my brother take them both up?” It was too strange.
Uncle Chen looked at him oddly. “Miss Sui Feng told me herself and asked me to take Miss Qiu there.”
His heart racing, Ning Yuan could barely breathe. “Call Si Tu Ying Feng immediately, quick!”
Without waiting for a response, he rushed in that direction. Ying Feng’s phone rang on the table, unanswered.
He was busy in the kitchen, reduced to being a cook for his sister because of his chess defeat yesterday.
Coincidentally free today, he bought some squid on his way to the hospital to pick her up, instructing Uncle Chen to take another car. She should be back soon, right?
Hearing the car sound, he went out to meet it with a bright smile.
Uncle Chen drove in, saw him, and looked surprised, “Huh? Young Master, you’re not at Xiang Ya Ge? Miss Sui Feng said you asked me to take Miss Qiu there to meet you!”
Ying Feng’s face changed dramatically. He turned and grabbed the phone, rushing out, “Quick, go to Xiang Ya Ge.”
His hand trembled as he saw twenty missed calls. He first dialed Ru Feng’s number, which was switched off.
He swallowed hard and called Qifeng’s phone. It was quickly answered, “Big brother, why did it take so long to call back?…”
“Qifeng, hurry to Xiangya Pavilion, Feng’er might be in trouble,” he interrupted.
An urgent voice came from the other end, “I’m on my way right now, I’ll explain when I get there.” Qifeng was anxious; what was wrong? He had just received a signal from her communicator and was uncertain, wondering if she had accidentally pressed something. She had texted that her phone was out of battery, prompting him to end the meeting and hurry in that direction.
