The Enigma Squad

Yu Fu angrily said: “You humans are truly shameless. When you were begging us for help before, everything was fine. Just after a few people ran away, suddenly everything changed! What does this mean? Are you trying to trick us into doing hard labor? How bold!”

She grew more and more furious, flapping her wings and increasing the wind, almost looking like she was about to take action. The other three villagers turned pale with fear and kept backing away. Only the four people lying on the ground were unfortunate, but then Yu Fu was grabbed by the arm by the old man who had initially captured people.

Yu Xiao lowered his voice: “Every year during our molting season, we can’t go out to buy things and have to rely on their help. After cooperating for so many years, it wouldn’t make sense to break things off over a young man.”

Anyway, since our bewitching technique has failed several times and people have escaped, we might as well give them what they want. The Yu King doesn’t lack one person to play with.”

Luo Ying Bai heard this and now understood his previous doubts. The Yu Yi people’s combat power was much higher than ordinary humans, and they should have looked down on cooperating with humans. However, every spring they had a molting season when they couldn’t fold their wings, so they had to rely on humans to purchase supplies, which was why they maintained this mutually beneficial relationship.

After arguing, they ultimately reached a compromise. Luo Ying Bai and a girl were sold to the village, while another man and woman were sent to be enjoyed by their “Yu King.”

Luo Ying Bai closed his eyes, drawing a symbol in his left palm with his right hand, bound behind his back, and silently chanted: “Five prisons unsettled, wronged ghosts unable to rest, earth-shaking force, listen to my command, rise!”

Just as he finished the spell, the entire ground suddenly shook slightly.

The people sitting together eating dry rations quickly jumped up, but the surroundings immediately returned to calm.

Aunt Fen, uncertain: “What was that? I thought it was an earthquake!”

Another man sat back down, cursing: “Maybe it was those bird people causing trouble. What kind of earthquake shakes like that? Damn!”

They sat down to eat again, not seeing the fierce human figure that had suddenly appeared in the air.

The figure floating in mid-air wore a royal robe, a golden crown, and was incredibly luxurious. Seeing Luo Ying Bai on the ground, he immediately started cursing: “Are you crazy? Why are you shaking? I was drinking, and the wine spilled all over my face!”

Luo Ying Bai laughed apologetically: “Oh, Wu Guan Wang, don’t be angry. I had an extremely important matter that forced me to look for you.”

This person was tall and thin, with deep-set eye sockets. He was the Wu Guan Wang who managed the great earth prison among the Ten Underworld Kings. Luo Ying Bai’s shake had directly disturbed the underworld, and he was the most unfortunate, immediately coming up to settle accounts.

He was hard-pressed and didn’t know how Xia Xianning was doing, so he temporarily set aside the matter with the Yui people and tried to find out about the situation in the village.

Aunt Fen was a notorious human trafficker in the village.

This time, after Cai Hongfen returned and heard about “fresh goods,” villagers rushed over.

Luo Yingbai and the young girl were thrown at the courtyard gate, like goods displayed on a stall. He quietly shifted his body when no one was paying attention, trying to shield the trembling girl behind him while observing the surroundings.

Behind him was a pigsty where two naked women were tied up, their hair disheveled, bodies covered in hay and mud, with obvious whip marks, sitting listlessly. A few large black pigs, accustomed to stupid humans, disinterestedly rooted around in their trough.

Another woman had both her hands and feet cut off, yet she struggled to lean against the railing, her gaze fixed intently on one spot. Following her look, Luo Yingbai saw a boy and a girl playing with mud.

After a while, someone seemed to call the children for a meal. They stood up to go home. As they passed the pigsty, the woman made a hoarse sound from her throat, seemingly trying to force a smile on her dirty face.

The boy said to his companion, “This crazy woman is looking at us again. Next time, I’ll tell Aunt Fen to gouge out her eyes.”

The little girl’s shoulders trembled, but she kept her head down and walked away silently. The woman continued to watch her back, two tears flowing from her cloudy eyes.

Luo Yingbai couldn’t describe whether he felt heavy or desolate, silently averting his gaze, his stomach churning.

At this moment, a tall, shirtless man pulled a cart into the courtyard. The cart was loaded with three young women, also bound but at least clothed. The man tilted the cart, directly dumping them next to Luo Yingbai.

He shouted, “Aunt Fen, will you take second-hand goods?”

Aunt Fen came out of the house, stunned when she saw the girls, and asked, “Fuzi, these girls haven’t given birth yet, and you’re selling them all?”

Fuzi lit a cigarette, sweat sliding down his raised, dark muscles. He said carelessly, “I’m tired of them. Two kids at home are enough. Having more means feeding them. I’d rather exchange them for more women. Sell these three, and you’ll make a few thousand. I heard there are fresh goods?”

Aunt Fen slapped him, “What chick? This is a boy I’m sending to Li Dazhang.”

Fuzi approached Luo Yingbai, sizing him up: “No wonder Li likes males. With this look, even I want to do him.”

Aunt Fen laughed, “Give me ten thousand, and he’s yours. Anyway, you don’t need him to give birth.”

Fuzi replied, “Can’t afford it. If Li Dazhang hasn’t killed him in a few days, I’ll borrow him later.”

They discussed living people like livestock, treating such transactions as normal. Luo Yingbai was furious seeing this. This was just one family – who knew how many were suffering such torment elsewhere?

If not for gathering intelligence and planning to eliminate the entire village, Luo Yingbai really wanted to jump up and beat these two people severely.

While he was suppressing his anger, someone else came to stoke the fire – a short man in his fifties, asking Fuzi if the “goods” were good to “use.”

Fuzi tore open one girl’s chest clothing, roughly groping her breast. The girl screamed, but he laughed, “Look, isn’t she still tender?”

The short man began unbuckling his belt, saying, “Let me try, if it feels good, I’ll take her.”

Before he could fully remove his belt, his vision blurred as he was punched hard, flying backward into the mud, bleeding from his nose and mouth, twitching and motionless.

With just one punch, he was beaten like this?!

Everyone present looked up in shock, seeing the extraordinarily beautiful young man had somehow freed himself from the ropes, protecting the sobbing girl behind him, his face dark as thunder.

Cai Hongfen, stunned momentarily, spat and shouted, “Catch this little bastard! Just cut off his hands!”

Luo Yingbai wasn’t usually impulsive. He knew he had acted rashly, but he couldn’t watch the girl be humiliated right in front of him. Now he could only improvise, change tactics – he had already thrown the punch, might as well continue.

Seemingly unaware of Luo Yingbai’s capabilities, Cai Hongfen rushed forward. Luo Yingbai, with his hands in his pockets, kicked her away cleanly: “I think you’re the one who’s asking for it!”

As a young master from a noble family, Luo Yingbai could joke but wasn’t good at cursing. The words lacked intensity, but his kick was certainly not light. Cai Hongfen’s stick didn’t even have time to rise before being kicked senseless – this was his first time hitting a woman.
