A Concubine’s Odyssey

Hearing my stammering words, Zhang Meifuren gazed at me with a smile, her fingers caressing my face, “Who in the world could be more beautiful than you?”

I gave a bitter smile, not forgetting the three claw marks on my face.

“What’s wrong, Long’er?” Ye Suo was startled, and I quickly pushed him next to Zhang Meifuren. The absolutely beautiful eyebrows, clean face, high nose bridge, slightly raised lips… they were so alike, this absolute beauty was too similar.

“You, you… are mother and son?”

“Hmph.” Ye Suo coldly snorted, then looked at Zhang Meiren with a sarcastic smile, “How could I possibly match up to the peerless madam?”

“In the world, only I am skilled in disguise, thus deserving to be called peerless,” Zhang Meiren purred. “Your father definitely told you that your mother was a heartless woman who ran away shortly after giving birth to you, using her disguise skills to ensure she could never be found.”

“Isn’t that the case?” Ye Suo coldly swept a glance at her. I tugged at Ye Suo’s sleeve, whispering, “Don’t be like this.”

Suddenly, my hand was grasped tightly. Was his hand actually trembling? Because he was reuniting with his mother? I laughed silently,

“I had my reasons. I admit I was wrong, letting you live under your father’s power-hungry control. He was always coveting the world, and your birth was even more of a hope for him. He could use your extraordinary power to gradually control the world,” Zhang Meiren spoke while removing a bundle from her body and taking out a pile of items.

Disguise equipment!

“I still don’t hear any real reasons,” Ye Suo’s cold tone carried a slight tremor.

Zhang Meiren pulled me to sit at the table and began combing my hair. It seemed I was going to be disguised too. I tightly held Ye Suo’s hand, bringing him closer to Zhang Meiren.

“This lifetime, I will only wrong my child once, never a second time,” Zhang Meiren said evasively, picking up a rustic village woman’s head covering and putting it on my head.

“Hmph.” Ye Suo disdainfully snorted, sitting beside me, his cold facial features noticeably softening.

“It’s so heavy,” I adjusted the head covering.
