Brother’s Lover

Xing Tuo strode toward her. Qian Zhi looked up, quietly gazing at him.

Xing Tuo took her hand, feeling the cool temperature in her palm: “When did you get here? Why didn’t you call me?”

“Somehow, whenever she looked at him like this, he would feel uneasy.

Qian Zhi stood up, smiling: “Nothing, I just wanted to see where you work.”

Seeing her smile, his furrowed brow softened: “Come, come with me.”

He held her hand, crossing the lobby and entering the elevator, ignoring the surprised looks around them.

Mother’s sighing voice lingered in the hospital room for a long time. Qian Zhi bit her lip, burying her face deep into the soft pillow. Her tears had long since soaked the pillow.

A faint dream-like murmur drifted into her ears. Qian Zhi opened her eyes in the darkness, sitting up and gently approaching her mother’s bedside. In the moonlight, she looked at her mother’s face, her brow painfully furrowed, her breathing shallow and chaotic, unconsciously mumbling: “…Shi Yao… Shi Yao…”
Qian Zhi held her breath and walked out of the room. The air was filled with a familiar disinfectant smell. The long corridor, with its pale light, saw her finally breaking down and crying in the dark shadows at the end of the hallway.

Guardian angels cannot fly; their wings are for sheltering.
They often cry because they love the children they protect so much that they shed tears their entire lives, unable to wipe them away because their wings must protect the children…”

In December, the weather began to turn very cold. Qian Zhi called Xing Yun to meet.

She said, “Xing Yun, I have something I want to ask you for help.”
“What is it?”
“My mom is sick, in the hospital. I want to ask your father to come and see her one last time. She doesn’t have much time left.” She said this with dry eyes, without a single tear.

Xing Yun was stunned: “Does my brother know?”
Qian Zhi shook her head: “I don’t want him to know.”
“Why?”
“No reason.”

Chapter 89: Brother’s Lover

“Okay, I agree.”
“Thank you.” A thin layer of mist slowly gathered in Qian Zhi’s eyes.
“I want to visit Aunt Wei in the hospital, is that okay?”
Qian Zhi nodded.
