As she spoke, she stepped forward, deliberately swaying in front of Lin Xiaoman.
From the first glance, Lin Xiaoman thought it was strange. How could such a pretty girl wear such weird clothes? Her blue-green outfit made her look like an exaggerated giant peacock.
Lin Xiaoman suppressed a laugh: “A noble bird, very grand.”
“You—” Though Chu Daizi was somewhat stupid, she understood she was being called a bird. But when she looked at herself in the nearby glass, she realized she really did look like a peacock!
The elevator door opened, and Lin Xiaoman smiled slightly and entered first, while Chu Daizi was too angry to move.
“Aren’t you coming?” Lin Xiaoman pressed the open button.
“No,” Chu Daizi stubbornly turned her head away.
“The meeting will be late,” Lin Xiaoman kindly reminded her.
Chu Daizi looked at the elevator stopped at the high-rise building and reluctantly rushed in.
★ Chapter Twenty-Four: Targeting
The elevator reached the 26th floor, and Chu Daizi held her head high, stepping out first in high heels. Along the way, employees who saw her came forward to greet her, which somewhat relieved her sullen mood.
She now had excellent resources, being the company’s legitimate top star. This was the treatment she deserved.
What was Lin Xiaoman’s attitude?
Thinking this, Chu Daizi became angry again.
She must teach Lin Xiaoman a lesson.
When entering the meeting room, most people were already there. Chu Daizi walked to her reserved seat in the front row. Lin Xiaoman entered after her and sat directly next to Xiao Bai.
Chu Daizi glanced at her sitting at the end of the table and rolled her eyes disdainfully.
The meeting began, mainly discussing the company’s recent projects and main artists’ activities.
During their conversation, Xiaobai had already picked up the planning document and glanced through it roughly. He argued: “Uncle, this really doesn’t match Xiaoman’s image. How is this good for her?”
“What do you know?” Chang Zong glared at him. Now the company’s resources were brought by Chu Daizi’s side, and he couldn’t afford to offend her, so he said sternly, “I think Daizi’s suggestion is good. Xiaoman has just debuted and needs enough exposure. To let everyone know her, she needs to shoot these kinds of advertisements that appeal to all ages.
“Yes, and isn’t the housewife image perfectly suited to her?” Chu Daizi sat down comfortably, looking extremely pleased.
“How is it suited—”
Xiaobai wanted to argue further, but Lin Xiaoman stopped him: “I understand. Thank you for the company’s consideration.”
“Xiaoman.” Xiaobai was unwilling.
He could see that Chu Daizi was deliberately targeting Xiaoman. His uncle would naturally side with Chu Daizi to curry favor, but what he couldn’t understand was that Xiaoman was never someone who would swallow her grievances.
“Don’t worry.” Xiaoman gave him a faint smile, light and reassuring.
Xiaobai suddenly felt relieved. Xiaoman definitely had her own plan.
Lin Xiaoman indeed had her own thoughts. She knew the company wanted to please the people behind Chu Daizi, so they would follow Chu Daizi’s suggestions. No matter how she resisted now, no one would listen to her, and she still had that damn ironclad contract.
Confronting them directly now was meaningless, and she wouldn’t do pointless things.
“I’m not harming you. What’s there to worry about? Ungrateful.” Chu Daizi looked down at Lin Xiaoman arrogantly, “It would be better if you just obediently listened.”
Her sugar daddy was stronger than Lin Xiaoman’s! She could get whatever resources she wanted, while Lin Xiaoman had to shoot what she didn’t want.
So what if men look good?
Throughout the entire meeting, she maintained a successful villain’s smile.
As soon as the meeting ended, Chu Daizi picked up her bag and walked out triumphantly.
The advertisement script she had disdained was now in Lin Xiaoman’s hands.
The advertisement was about a love story between a restaurant owner and a customer. The owner wins the customer’s heart by capturing his stomach, with her cooking skill highlighted by her excellent ingredient selection. At the end, when revealing this truth, the owner and customer would dance, with vegetables floating around them in post-production.
Lin Xiaoman admitted for the first time that Chu Daizi did have some brains, knowing which advertisements to avoid.
If this advertisement was poorly shot, it would be worse than a trash advertisement.
However, Lin Xiaoman confidently closed the advertisement proposal. Those thoughts were for rookie newcomers; she was the most beloved artist by advertisers.
There was no advertisement she couldn’t shoot, no product she couldn’t sell!
Xiaobai quietly watched Lin Xiaoman’s changing expressions and felt even more reassured.
Although she was a girl several years younger than him, she had a convincing power that unconsciously made people feel at ease.
“Let’s go,” Lin Xiaoman stood up, smiling and calling Xiaobai, “Since we’ve taken the project, I’ll treat you to dinner today.”
“Really?” Xiaobai was in high spirits, “How about that new barbecue restaurant downstairs?”
“Sure,” Lin Xiaoman, grateful that Xiaobai stood up for her, decided to treat him well, “You can eat as much as you want.”
“Xiaoman, you can’t be so extravagant. Your financial situation isn’t great,” Xiaobai said, holding her salary card, aware of her financial struggles.
“We can’t waste money. Let’s eat noodles instead. There’s a beef noodle place before…”
While Xiaobai was chattering, he suddenly saw someone appear before them, a person of extraordinary bearing, dressed elegantly, clearly not an ordinary person.
He immediately stopped talking.
“Miss Lin,” the elegant and refined man smiled at Lin Xiaoman, “We meet again.”
“Mr. Yue,” Lin Xiaoman’s attitude was neither enthusiastic nor overly cold.
“I heard you’ve taken the Yiyuan advertisement.”
Yiyuan was the name of the vegetable brand.
Lin Xiaoman recalled previously turning down his endorsement and explained: “This was the company’s decision.”
“This advertisement doesn’t suit you,” Yue Ding’s tone was gentle but definitive, “Let me help you turn it down. Come and endorse for me instead.”
“Being able to take Dongdi Real Estate’s advertisement is good for me,” Lin Xiaoman smiled slightly, polite and modest, “But I’ve promised to take this advertisement, so I must be honest.”
Yue Ding looked at the young girl in front of him. Although she was smiling, there was no smile in her eyes, which made him even more interested: “There will be opportunities for us to collaborate in the future.”
“Regarding advertisement matters, please discuss with my agent Xiaobai,” Lin Xiaoman nodded slightly, “I’ll be going now.”
“Would Miss Lin be interested in having lunch together?”
“It’s an honor for Director Yue to dine with me.”
Lin Xiaoman hadn’t even finished her sentence when Yue Ding spoke first: “If I’m rejected again, I’ll lose all face.”
His tone was teasing, but his gaze was profound, creating immense pressure.
“Brother Yue!” Chu Daizi appeared at just the right moment, running over with small steps and leaning against Yue Ding, “Didn’t we make a reservation at the Golden King Dynasty? We need to hurry.”
“I often hear you mention that Miss Lin takes good care of you. Since we’ve coincidentally met, why not invite her to dinner as well?” Yue Ding brought up the topic again.
Chu Daizi knew these were all excuses.
Yue Ding was interested in Lin Xiaoman.
“Xiaoman is definitely busy now, let’s talk about it next time,” she said, not wanting to create an opportunity for them. “Besides, didn’t you promise to only accompany me today?”
She looked up and met Yue Ding’s glance that made her afraid.
Yue Ding had always been easy-going. She liked and wanted something, and he would buy it for her.
