Future Phone – Part Two

Getting involved with Yan Yuan is like getting involved with the state. Getting involved with the state means many things can’t be done recklessly, with restrictions, shackled, freedom lost.

On the way back to Chaohui Residential Area, Hao Yunyang felt waves of chills rising from his heart. If Yan Yuan’s approach to Kong Lingqiu was stripped bare, it was clearly Yan Yuan wanting Kong Lingqiu to work for him, and Kong Lingqiu couldn’t refuse, after all, he was a deputy national-level official, one of the few in all of China!

Getting tangled with Yan Yuan – was it a blessing or a curse? Hao Yunyang couldn’t determine, but one thing was certain: the person connected to Yan Yuan was Kong Lingqiu, not himself!

Unless absolutely necessary, he would decisively avoid exposing his existence! Perhaps maintaining his mystery could help him gain more from Yan Yuan. Or maybe when Jiuxiao became strong enough, he could use Kong Lingqiu’s connection to contact Yan Yuan.

Hao Yunyang thought a lot but couldn’t ultimately define the boundaries of fortune and misfortune. He could only sigh softly, park the car, and take the elevator upstairs.

“Let’s go buy some gifts this afternoon. Shall we go tomorrow morning?” Taking out his keys and opening the door, he saw Zhao Xinxin sitting in the living room watching TV. While changing shoes, he asked: “Or go now?”

“Tomorrow,” Zhao Xinxin tilted her head and thought for a moment, then turned to Hao Yunyang: “July 4th is a Sunday. My brother probably won’t have supplementary classes.”

“Then tomorrow it is,” Hao Yunyang had no particular demands about the timing. After changing into slippers, he walked to the sofa and sat down, leaning back and stretching: “Go change your clothes. We’ll go buy some gifts. It wouldn’t be good to show up empty-handed for the first time.

“Mm.” Zhao Chenxin nodded and went into the room. The light pink silk pajamas swayed with the airflow as she walked, stirring something in Hao Yunyang’s heart. Rubbing his hands, he gave a sly laugh and stood up, following her.

By the time the two finished tidying up and came out of the room, it was already past four in the afternoon. A charming blush still lingered on Zhao Chenxin’s face, while Hao Yunyang stretched lazily, feeling refreshed. Then he said, “Let’s go. We’ll stroll around the street and then have dinner. Mm, we’ll look for the things we need to buy later.”

“Mm.” Zhao Chenxin nodded. Hao Yunyang smiled and reached out to wrap his arm around her slender waist. She struggled slightly but couldn’t break free, so she could only give a bitter smile and let Hao Yunyang hold her.

When they opened the door and came out, Wang Shiyu and Wan Hongyuan quickly opened their doors and followed. The original owner of this apartment seemed to be a manager-level executive at some company. Initially, when Hao Yunyang found him, he was unwilling to move. But after Hao Yunyang kept increasing the offer, he finally nodded and agreed to move when the price reached four thousand yuan, relocating that very afternoon.

Because all of his belongings barely filled one suitcase.

Dinner that night was settled at a roadside spicy hot pot. When the four returned home, they were carrying bags of various items, including white wine, red wine, foreign spirits, cigarettes, health supplements, and a set of gold jewelry for Hao Yunyang’s future mother-in-law.

Originally, Hao Yunyang wanted to buy platinum, but Zhao Chenxin said her mother didn’t like platinum, only gold.

As a junior, Hao Yunyang naturally needed to cater to her preferences, so he bought a complete set of jewelry, including earrings, necklace, bracelet, and anklet. The entire set cost Hao Yunyang exactly fifty thousand yuan.

Then, after taking care of the mother-in-law, they couldn’t neglect the father-in-law, right? After consulting Zhao Chenxin, a diamond-studded Rolex watch was also added to the list of spoils.

Placing the pile of items on the living room sofa, Hao Yunyang wiped the sweat from his forehead and said with some emotion, “So many things. We’ll have to take them down tomorrow morning. Why didn’t I think of leaving them in the car?”

“Leave tens of thousands of yuan worth of items in the car? What if someone breaks in?” Zhao Chenxin looked at Hao Yunyang with some exasperation, hesitating before continuing, “Should we go take a shower and sleep now, or…”

“You go shower first, go lie down and watch some TV in the room,” Hao Yunyang smiled and said, “I’ll go to the study to handle some matters, probably will take an hour to two hours. If you can’t wait, just go to sleep.”

“Oh, okay.” Zhao Chenxin nodded, yawned, and turned to enter the room. Next to the bedroom was Hao Yunyang’s study.

The study was naturally filled with books. But Hao Yunyang hadn’t read many of them; they were all bought to look impressive, and only original editions were purchased, rejecting pirated copies. Besides two cabinets of books, the study also had a sofa, a coffee table, a desk, computer, and chair.

After entering the study, he closed and locked the door, sat down at the computer, and took out the phone still connected to the computer, dialing his own number.

“Dad, I’m getting married tomorrow,” the call connected, and Hao Zhenhua on the other end already had a wry smile: “Mom says we can’t delay anymore.”

“What?” Hao Yunyang, who was preparing to chat with his son, was stunned and immediately asked, “Which girl?”

“The one I showed you last time.”

“What? Drooling over her?” Hao Yunyang jumped up from his chair in shock, hurriedly saying, “Son, you can’t do something stupid. Even if you want to be filial, you can’t choose such a girl. You’re ruining yourself!”

“Dad, can you let me finish?” Hao Zhenhua was also stunned, then said, “The girl I’m going to marry is…”

“Her friend?” Hao Yunyang scratched his head, wondering, “Weren’t you on a blind date with her? How did you end up getting together with her friend?”

“It’s a long story. Simply put, I went on a blind date with that girl, and she brought her friend along for support. When leaving, I asked for her friend’s phone number. One thing led to another…” Hao Zhenhua laughed sheepishly, a man in his forties acting like a kid in front of Hao Yunyang, and said somewhat exaggeratedly, “Moreover, her friend is much prettier than the original girl, and she’s a first-level doctoral student from Huajing University, cough cough. Telling you this might not make much sense.”

“Make it clearer for me.” A first-level doctoral student from Huajing University? Hao Yunyang was naturally confused.

“In our era, doctoral levels are divided into six grades, with six being the lowest and one being the highest.” Hao Zhenhua chuckled, “A first-level doctorate, if defined by your standards, could be called an all-around doctorate.”

“Our Lao Hao family’s excellent bloodline is showing its effect.” Hao Yunyang didn’t understand the first to sixth levels, but he understood the term “all-around”. Anything associated with “all-around” becomes extraordinary, let alone an all-around doctorate?

“That’s right!” Hao Zhenhua agreed with Hao Yunyang’s view, and after saying those words, continued, “Although she’s six years older than me…”

“What?” Before Hao Zhenhua could finish, Hao Yunyang’s brow furrowed: “What did you say?”

“That’s right.”

“The last part.”

“Although she’s six years older than me,” Hao Zhenhua said somewhat nervously, “Is there a problem?”

“Son, how old are you?” Hao Yunyang rubbed his temples and asked.

“Forty-six,” Hao Zhenhua quickly answered.

“Six years older than you means she’s fifty-two?” Hao Yunyang felt like fainting, “Fifty-two years old, can she even have children? Are you fulfilling your mom’s dream or crushing it?
