General’s Gambit: The Fleeing Concubine

“Are you serious? You want to make him a general? Have you lost your mind?” Yu Hen must be crazy to make Yu Ling, this brainless fellow, a general. Several troops from She Yu would not be enough to ensure success.

“Don’t worry, it’s just a nominal title. You can travel and sightsee with Ling Zhou.” As long as he could still watch over her, it would be enough.

“Really? Then go ahead!” Travel and sightseeing? Being a general was such a good opportunity that doesn’t come every year, so he quickly urged Yu Ling to agree.

“But…” Yu Ling was still hesitant.

“Oh, stop being so indecisive! I’ll accept on his behalf!” Ling Zhou patted her chest.

“Then it’s settled. I’ll write the imperial decree right away.” Yu Hen picked up a brush.

“Hey, Xia Ling Zhou, by what right do you agree on my behalf?” Yu Ling looked at the two, who seemed to have made the decision without consulting him.

“By right? Because I’m your wife. A wife should be able to agree to something for her husband, right?” Ling Zhou winked smugly. “You’re in trouble now. Being a general isn’t easy!”

Yu Ling withdrew his reluctance and laughed, pulling Ling Zhou into the plan.

“Brother Wang, since I’m both a general and a prince, my wife should be granted a title, right?”

“A title?”

“Hey, what are you up to?” Ling Zhou pouted, looking back and forth between the two brothers.

“Since she likes to run away so much, let’s call her the ‘Escaped Consort’,” Yu Hen quickly wrote the two characters on the paper.

“What? Escaped Consort? Why? Why? Other consorts have such nice titles. Why do I have to be called this?” Escaped Consort?
