Yan Xiaohan silently thought, you’re still a child too—
Before this thought could complete, several black shadows suddenly burst from the dense forest, directly charging into the Flying Dragon Guard and instantly tackling someone!
“What is this!”
The startled cry distracted Fu Shen. In that moment of distraction, Yan Xiaohan struck like lightning, grabbing Fu Shen’s wrist, twisting with a bone-chilling “crack” that dislocated one of Fu Shen’s arms.
Fu Shen reacted quickly too, kicking Yan Xiaohan back several steps, rolling aside to relocate his arm, cold sweat pouring from the pain. However, he had no time to seek revenge on Yan Xiaohan, as the unexpected attackers had become an unavoidable threat. Not just the Flying Dragon Guard, but several of their own people were also being attacked.
Even Yi Siming began cursing: “Fuck… where did these come from! Fu Shen! Didn’t you say there were no wild boars on this mountain!”
Fu Shen roared: “I haven’t been here for several years! How would I know! Climb trees, quickly climb trees!”
Yan Xiaohan was directly pressed down from the tree by him, and the two rolled on the ground for a long way. Yan Xiaohan’s lower back was pierced by the wild boar’s sharp fangs, opening a cut on his back, and fresh blood covered Fu Shen’s hands. If Fu Shen hadn’t been there just now, the impact would have been direct, and he would have likely had two transparent holes on his body.
“Thank you…”
Fu Shen only heard him say this much before feeling a strong force on his shoulder as Yan Xiaohan actually threw him aside!
Before his shocked expression could freeze, a black shadow like a whirlwind rushed from behind, and Fu Shen watched helplessly as the thick, long fangs plunged into Yan Xiaohan’s waist and abdomen—
“Run quickly!”
Yan Xiaohan’s roar exploded in his ears, but he himself couldn’t get up, being dragged on the ground by the wild boar. Fortunately, the leather belt of the Flying Dragon Guard uniform, with its copper beast-head buckle, blocked the boar’s heavy strike.
The fangs were caught on the copper beast head, unable to break free. The wild boar dragged Yan Xiaohan around madly, smashing into things. Fu Shen was stunned for a moment before running after him. When he caught up, he was almost driven to madness, nearly spitting out a mouthful of blood.
He roared to the sky: “Damn it! Did you not check the almanac before going out today!”
“
Deep in the forest was a large area of rugged rocky cliffs.
The wild boar was probably possessed, wanting to push this annoying human down to his death.
Yan Xiaohan also saw the cliff behind him. In desperation, he reached out to grab the boar’s fangs, trying to pull it free from the copper buckle. In the blink of an eye, the boar had rushed to the cliff’s edge and flung him.
The mountain wind howled. At the moment of suspension, a man’s weight finally tore the boar’s fangs from the copper buckle. Yan Xiaohan’s body rapidly descended, and he knew he was likely done for this time.
His vision went black, and the falling momentum suddenly stopped.
Fu Shen had half his body hanging over the cliff, grabbing Yan Xiaohan’s clothes: “Grab my hand…”
The face that always seemed to wear a mask finally showed a genuine look of shock.
“You…” his lips moved almost imperceptibly, the tiny sound lost in the mountain wind.
The next moment, his eyes suddenly widened: “Behind! It’s not gone!”
A sharp pain came from Fu Shen’s back, and his body uncontrollably fell forward, yet he still gripped Yan Xiaohan’s clothes tightly.
“Fu Shen!”
They both fell from the cliff together.
Chapter 19: Stone Cave | Fu Shen’s Three Moves
The sound of water swirled endlessly, damp and cold all around, with pain everywhere. Fu Shen awoke in a dizzy state, and as soon as he opened his eyes, before he could see his surroundings, he vomited on the ground. “
Someone came to support his shoulder, forcibly holding a leaf full of water to his mouth: “Rinse.”
His vision blurred, seeing double, his limbs feeling like they’d been dismantled. After being pressed to drink some water, he slowly caught his breath and recognized his fellow sufferer.
“Master Yan,” Fu Shen said weakly, “are we somehow cosmically incompatible…”
Unexpectedly, Yan Xiaohan didn’t retort, just stared at him. The beautiful face was dotted with water droplets, the cold killing intent seemingly washed away, with a somewhat at a loss expression.
Fu Shen felt chills from the amber-like eyes staring at him: “What’s wrong? Gone mad?”
Yan Xiaohan gently pressed down his hand: “I’m sorry. It’s my fault you got involved…”
Fu Shen was almost startled by this sudden sincerity, wildly waving his hands: “No no no! It’s fine! You don’t need to apologize!”
“Don’t move,” Yan Xiaohan helplessly pressed down his other hand, “You have a wound on your back, be careful.”
Fu Shen looked horrified at this killer suddenly transforming into a gentle lamb, wondering if he was the one who had hit his head.
They had been pushed off the cliff by the wild boar, expecting certain death, but unexpectedly, there was a deep pool at the bottom. Fu Shen had dive-bombed head-first into the water, knocked unconscious by the water pressure, while Yan Xiaohan was luckier, hitting the pool wall and seemingly breaking a rib, but staying conscious.
He pulled Fu Shen from the pool and found a dry cave nearby to shelter him.
During Fu Shen’s unconscious period, Yan Xiaohan gathered some dry firewood and used the fire starter from Fu Shen’s oil-paper package to start a campfire. He estimated they might not escape the valley tonight, but the weather turned, and it soon began to rain.
Fu Shen felt his back and discovered a deep wound from the wild boar, simply treated with bandages. He was wrapped in two layers of dry outer robes, with his middle garment drying by the fire. Yan Xiaohan wore only wet thin clothing, with a torn lower hem and a large bloodstain on his lower back.
“Aren’t you cold?” Fu Shen sat up, trying to pull off Yan Xiaohan’s outer robe, but was stopped by a glance: “Keep wearing it. There’s not enough firewood, and it’ll be very cold tonight.”
After a pause, he added: “I only have a minor external injury, it’s nothing. Don’t worry.”
Fu Shen didn’t know about the broken bone and, seeing no other wounds, believed him, leaning back against the stone wall: “I probably can’t walk now. We’ll have to make do here tonight. If you’re able, wait for the rain to stop and you can leave. Follow the valley, and you’ll be out by morning.”
Yan Xiaohan poked the fire with a branch, not looking up: “I’ll take you out. Don’t worry.”
Fu Shen chuckled: “I’m not worried. This is Baoyan Mountain, my family’s territory. What is there to fear?
“Someone will definitely come rescue me tomorrow. Going with you would only slow you down. You’ll escape faster alone.”
“Not a burden,” Yan Xiaohan shook his head, “I want to stay and keep you company. Is that not okay?”
“Ah?” Fu Shen was stunned, awkwardly saying, “Oh, okay… that’s fine…”
Yan Xiaohan said nothing more.
Fu Shen was a bit of a monkey, unable to stay still even when injured, with an intense curiosity. After holding back for a long time, he finally cautiously asked, “That… Sir Yan, what are you… cough, why do you insist on staying?”
Yan Xiaohan thought he had asked a pointless question and gave him a strange glance.
“I, I, I mean,” Fu Shen berated himself inwardly for stammering while blushing, “I thought you… seemed to not like me?”
Yan Xiaohan stopped his actions and turned around, looking at Fu Shen and saying, “Don’t call me ‘Sir’.”
“Hm?”
“I’m two years older than you and haven’t been given a courtesy name. If Young Master Fu doesn’t mind, you can call me elder brother.”
