“I brought a dozen people to scout ahead, the main army is behind,” Yan Xiaohan unhesitatingly spilled all his secrets: “General Zhao Xi Cheng is leading the troops.”

“General Zhao, that’s easy,” Fu Shen suddenly remembered something, “Hmm? How did you come along?”

Yan Xiaohan touched his nose, embarrassed: “I’m not skilled in military affairs, this time I shamelessly begged the Emperor to get a supervisor position.”

Fu Shen laughed very ungraciously: “What must come will come, just accept it.”

Yan Xiaohan looked at him helplessly yet indulgently. Fu Shen waved a soldier over, handing him his waist token: “Go to the other side, give this to General Zhao, tell him the Northern Yan cavalry is stationed in Tang Li Town, I’ve detained the supervisor for him, let him enjoy a few peaceful days.”

Yan Xiaohan: “Jing Yuan…”

“Yes, I hear you,” Fu Shen openly held his hand, turning to the dumbfounded soldier: “Welcome General Zhao to visit, let’s discuss how to take Chang’an City.”

Fu Shen sat up and pointed threateningly at the mess from the vinegar jar before getting up to open the door and receiving a large basin of hot water. Yan Xiaohan consciously moved a small stool and followed over. Fu Shen rolled up his sleeves, tested the water temperature, and said, “Alright, come and wash. I’ll keep watch at the door.”

Yan Xiaohan silently untied his clothes, removing the wet garment and revealing a corner of a white bandage on his shoulder. Fu Shen caught a glimpse of it and immediately reached out to press down: “What happened? Where are you injured?”

“It’s nothing, just accidentally scraped a bit of skin, probably already scabbed over,” Yan Xiaohan said. “The military doctor made a big fuss and insisted I wear a bandage.”

Fu Shen was not reassured: “Turn around, let me take a look.”

Yan Xiaohan obediently sat on the low stool facing away from him, baring his shoulder. Fu Shen carefully removed the bandage, seeing a fresh red wound about three inches long, sliced open by a sharp blade, already starting to close but with only a thin scab that looked like it could split open at any moment.
