Golden Terrace

Fu Shen unconsciously nodded, suddenly reaching out to catch something and casually tucking it into Yan Xiaohan’s collar. Before Yan Xiaohan could react, Fu Shen had already picked up the reins and urged his horse forward.

A subtle fragrance spread. Yan Xiaohan lowered his head and was suddenly stunned.

It was a paired lotus flower.

At the Jing Ning Marquis Mansion, everyone had been eagerly awaiting their return.

The Ministry of Rites official was momentarily stunned when he saw Fu Shen on horseback, almost blurting out “Isn’t the Marquis lame?” Fortunately, Yan Xiaohan immediately lifted Fu Shen down and placed him in a wheelchair, making the official realize Fu Shen had been forcing himself the entire journey.

With this subtle sympathy, his bottled-up anger dissipated somewhat. He didn’t lash out but instead greeted them, congratulated their marriage, and urged, “Please go in quickly. The Marquis of Ying and your mother are waiting for you to pay respects.”

The Flying Dragon Guard’s status was aloof toward civil officials. Yan Xiaohan merely responded casually, his thoughts entirely on caring for Fu Shen. Fu Shen thanked the official and gently pushed away Yan Xiaohan’s hand on the wheelchair, saying softly, “No need. Let Qing Heng and the others do it.”

A long red carpet stretched from the entrance to the main hall. Fu Shen and Yan Xiaohan each held an end of a red silk cloth, with Yu Qiaoting pushing the wheelchair into the festive hall. The room was brightly lit, with dragon and phoenix candles everywhere. Guests stood to offer congratulations.

Qin’s face changed from red to white and then to green, her lips and hands hidden in her wide sleeves trembling uncontrollably.

She never expected Yan Xiaohan would suddenly attack, and though she wanted to retort, she was silenced by his smiling yet murderous glance.

Before she could respond, Yan Xiaohan seemed tired of wasting words with her and coldly ordered, “Take her away.”

With his command, two Flying Dragon Guards immediately stepped forward, moving as if rehearsed, grabbing Qin’s arms and pulling her down from her seat, dragging her out on the spot.

Qin seemed to suddenly wake up, struggling and screaming wildly, but after only two words, the well-trained Flying Dragon Guards gagged her mouth.
