Little Demon, Don’t Go

“Xiaoying,” Song Chu lifted her chin, looking at the tears in her eyes. “It turns out we’re both love fools. Let’s accompany each other, and never let anyone hurt us again, okay?” Of course, except you, Song Chu silently added.

“But…”

“No buts, let’s see what award the student council will give you!”

“Ah!! I forgot about the celebration!” Yu Xiaoying looked gratefully at Song Chu, who never forced her to do anything.

“Let’s go, fool!”

“You’re the fool!”

Receiving a call from Qin Na, Yu Xiaoying hurriedly arrived at the basketball court behind the school.

How could this confused person run to such a place and sprain their ankle?

The afternoon sunlight filtered through the trees, casting dappled light on Yu Xiaoying, who wore a peach-pink chiffon dress. She squinted for a long time, but the basketball court had no trace of Qin Na, only one person shooting baskets. That familiar figure…

This traitor!!

Ji Ran stopped shooting, and sweat dripped down his face, wetting his white T-shirt. He stood there with a smile, making Yu Xiaoying feel as if she had returned to Yingcai High School.

Watching Yu Xiaoyao turn and leave resolutely, Ji Ran opened his mouth but ultimately said nothing. A pair of gentle hands rested on his shoulder.

“Let her think it over. You were too direct with her, of course, she couldn’t handle it. You’re too impulsive, Ji Ran,” Qin Na said, concerned. “What’s wrong with you?”

“Maybe… I’m afraid of losing her,” Ji Ran replied with a bitter smile.

“Ah. The greatest sorrow in life is not loving and not being loved, but having and then losing.”

“Na Na, I’m sorry. I’ve implicated you this time.”

Yu Xiaoyao lay on the bed, tossing and turning, still angry about the day’s events. She never expected her brother would betray her and tell Ji Ran about that embarrassing incident.

Just as she was thinking, the door was quietly pushed open, and a white figure “floated” in. Yu Xiaoyao felt her blanket being lifted, and a pair of cold hands reached in. She was about to kick this traitor off the bed when Qin Na’s pitiful voice came: “It’s quite cold outside, and I hesitated for a long time at the door. Can you…”

“Come up,” Yu Xiaoyao sighed helplessly.

“Ji Ran was a bit impulsive, but he traveled thousands, no, ten thousand miles to find you. Won’t you forgive him?” Qin Na carefully probed.

“It’s not about forgiveness, but… I can’t face him.”

“Isn’t Song Chu good to you? Why do you keep speaking up for Ji Ran?”

“Well… promise you won’t kick me.”

“Speak!”

“Ji Ran promised to take me to find Brother Jun Feng next month.”

As soon as the words fell, a heavy object was heard falling to the ground.

“What are you doing??”

“Traitor!!”

Qin Na stood in front of the mirror, looking at her reflection. She had large almond-shaped eyes and a soft little mouth, her face blushing with shyness and nervousness. She had looked in the mirror hundreds of times, still lacking confidence.

“Xiaoyao, will Brother Jun Feng not like pink?”

“Okay, you’re already beautiful enough!”

“But… today is a big day; Brother Jun Feng is coming back.”

He had been stationed abroad for a long time, initially seeing each other once a month, but later sometimes not meeting for half a year. It left her heart unsettled. Every time he came and went quickly, reuniting with family and talking with Xiaoyao, she was left with very little time.

Seeing Yu’s parents was surprising, but their intellectual quality helped them regain composure as they sat down to eat together. They asked Ji Ran about his experiences studying abroad while Jun Feng and Na Na chatted enthusiastically, with Na Na occasionally laughing uncontrollably. Only Yu Xiao Yao sat alone, feeling somewhat gloomy.

“Ring~~~~” Oh thank goodness for this rescue call; Yu Xiao Yao couldn’t help but thank the heavens.

“What, you want me to handle your school’s evening event?” Yu Xiao Yao shouted angrily.

“Who knew she sprained her foot? It’s an emergency, please help!” the person on the other end sounded desperate.

“Hmm…..” Yu Xiao Yao assessed the situation and finally gritted her teeth, “Fine.” She put down her bowl and rushed out.

“Your food….”

“I’m full!”

Sitting in the car, Yu Xiao Yao took a deep breath. Sitting there eating was awkward.

Jun Feng felt he was being intensely stared at. Following the gaze, he saw Qin Na blush and turn away.

Jun Feng, experienced in romantic encounters, understood the girl’s feelings. The young girl, with her shy and coy demeanor, exuded a fatal attraction that the experienced women around him lacked.

After lunch, Yu’s parents entrusted Qin Na to Jun Feng for her safe return home. Ji Ran took the opportunity to say goodbye.

The three walked out together.

“How did it go?” Jun Feng guessed Ji Ran’s outcome from his expression.

Ji Ran shook his head. “My explanation only made her angrier. She’s been avoiding me lately.”

“Give her some time. Once she understands, it’ll be fine. I’ll help persuade her.” Jun Feng felt apologetic for causing the situation.

Ji Ran smiled. “She can’t avoid me forever.”

Watching Ji Ran leave, Qin Na sighed. “Another parting on bad terms.”

Jun Feng looked at her delicate face, feeling warmth in his heart, and put his arm around her shoulder. “I’ll take you home.”

“Okay, Jun Feng, can we walk?” Qin Na suggested softly.

Jun Feng raised an eyebrow at her unusual way of addressing him. Curious about her intentions, he quietly agreed.

“Jun Feng, you’ve been working for so long. Do you have someone special?”

Qin Na suddenly asked after a long silence, “Then… can I like you?”

Jun Feng was surprised. “I… haven’t really put anyone special in my heart.”

“I’ve always been… can’t you tell?” Qin Na blushed and raised her head, meeting Jun Feng’s astonished eyes.

Her feelings were obvious. But…

“Na Na, our environments are very different…”

“I don’t want to hear this!”

Jun Feng thought he needed to regard her differently, yet his survival environment was fraught with secrets. The business world was a battlefield; this pure girl was a risk.

“Na Na, don’t like me. You’ll get hurt,” he said, looking at her tearful expression.

“Liking someone is my business. Don’t tell me what to do!” Qin Na pushed away his hand and ran home.

This girl was as stubborn as Yu Xiao Yao, Jun Feng thought with a bitter smile. Who wouldn’t be moved by her? But accepting her would mean pulling her into murky waters.

Seeing her safely run home, Jun Feng walked away with peace of mind.

“No way!!” As soon as Yu Xiao Yao entered the X High School hall, she spotted Song Chu, who was brought in as a volunteer.

Since the celebration party, Yu Xiao Yao had been avoiding Song Chu and Ji Ran, always finding a way to escape. She looked around, seemingly unnoticed, and was about to turn and run when Ren Jing’er spotted her and rushed over, shouting, “Xiao Yao! You’re here, how great!”

“Oh, I’m dead!” Yu Xiao Yao groaned inwardly.

The originally quiet hall fell silent at Ren Jing’er’s shout as everyone turned to look, including Song Chu, who had been focused on his work. A barely noticeable light flashed in his eyes upon seeing Yu Xiao Yao.

Yu Xiao Yao glared at Ren Jing’er while casually greeting everyone, hoping she had avoided any awkwardness with Song Chu.

“Is he your ex-boyfriend?” Ren Jing’er nudged her. “He’s really handsome!”

Yu Xiao Yao sighed internally. She glanced at Song Chu’s tall figure illuminated by the yellow hall lights. His incredibly handsome profile, marked by a slight furrow in his brow, added a hint of mysterious depth to his sunny appearance. This was the first time Yu Xiao Yao had seen him like this, and she couldn’t help but be mesmerized.
