Chapter Thirty-Five: You Must Wait for Me
The air paused for a moment, then began to flow again. The man narrowed his eyes and gently wrapped an arm around the woman’s waist. He furrowed his brow; she seemed to be getting thinner.
Since her mother’s accident, she had no time to care for herself, constantly shuttling between school and the hospital. He had never paid attention to her physical condition, but now he noticed her delicate face looking more gaunt, making her bright, lively eyes stand out.
“Jing Xin, you need to eat more. I don’t want to sleep with a bunch of bones. It’ll give me nightmares.” The words came out awkwardly; he didn’t understand women and had no patience for pleasing them.
Jing Xin lifted her head from his embrace. Could she consider this caring? A smile spread at the corner of her mouth.
The man turned his face away, cursing himself internally. When had he become so sentimental?
Annoyed, he sat up and placed a bank card in Jing Xin’s hand. He needed to arrange her life properly.
He had promised his mother to care for her, and while he couldn’t provide a better life right now, he wouldn’t let her basic needs go unmet.
“There are fifty thousand yuan here for your tuition and living expenses. I’ll give you more if it’s not enough,” he said flatly.
Jing Xin examined the card, then stood up and pushed it back toward him. “I don’t want it. The money I earn from the library is enough. I can work during the winter break to pay tuition. You keep it.”
She didn’t know where he got so much money, and considering his injuries, she guessed it wasn’t easy to earn. How could she use his money?
Jiang Xiangyang was frustrated and placed the card in her hand again: “Take it when I tell you to.”
“No,” she turned away. She was being stubborn.
Jiang Xiangyang had never been patient and couldn’t understand how this delicate woman could be so obstinate. He placed the card in her palm again, his hand covering hers, gripping it so she couldn’t pull away, warning her: “Jing Xin, you’d better listen.”
