Lost Youth – When Love Lies

Xia Yuluo tried to cover up with a smile, pretending to be happy.

“Did someone bother you again? Was it Ying’zi and the others?” He clearly wanted to stand up for her.

“No, I just cried my eyes swollen from a nightmare last night!”

Fang Yuzhe wasn’t stupid and wouldn’t believe her, but just then the class bell rang, so he didn’t continue asking.

After school, Xia Yuluo saw Fang Yuzhe waiting at the classroom door, causing passing girls to shoot jealous looks.

“Waiting for me?” she walked over nervously.

Fang Yuzhe, who usually acted “cool” at school and rarely showed a smile, generously gave her one today. “Don’t go to work tonight. I’ve already talked to your boss.”

“Then what should I do?”

“You seem unhappy. Let’s take a break.”

“Take a break?”

“Let’s go!” He grabbed her wrist without explanation and pulled her downstairs.

“Captain, aren’t we training today?” Several boys from the team approached.

“Train by yourselves today!” Fang Yuzhe didn’t even look back.

“Fang Yuzhe, I’ll go with you!” Xia Yuluo was dragged along, barely managing to pull her hand free. “This isn’t good. People will misunderstand!”

“Misunderstand what?” He played dumb, then couldn’t help but laugh, “A misunderstanding would be better. I don’t mind anyway.”

Xia Yuluo followed this somewhat unusual boy downstairs to the playground.

“Where are we going?” They temporarily stood under a large tree near the basketball court.

No one was around; everyone was watching them from a distance.

“I haven’t thought it through, can you tell me what’s wrong with you today?”

Yu Luofell pulled out her bank card from her pocket, “Here, take this back. I don’t need it anymore.”

“Your mother, she—” Fang Yuzhe was startled, hoping the situation wasn’t what he imagined.

Xia Yuluo shook her head, “She’s not sick, she just got married. She lied because it wasn’t convenient to bring me along.”

“What’s there to cry about? Getting married is better than being sick!”

“But I no longer have a home, and I feel like I’ve lost my mother.” She was about to cry again.
