“Hello, I’m Cheng Zhiyi, the tour guide for this mystery trip,” said the person knocking on the door.
“Oh, hello,” Ding Nuanyang smiled and quickly pulled her head back in.
Ding Nuanyang’s door closed, but Cheng Zhiyi remained in the same position, staring blankly at her door.
The small group, including Ding Nuanyang and Mo Yafei, had seven people total – a newlywed couple on their honeymoon and another family of three.
Because they were all young, everyone quickly became familiar after tour guide Cheng Zhiyi led the introductions.
“Today’s itinerary includes a rural farmhouse experience and a tour of Wild Man Valley,” Cheng Zhiyi announced through a mini megaphone at the front of the minibus. “At the farmhouse, we’ll have the chance to taste two local specialties: the locally brewed Fangling yellow wine and the famous black fungus from Fang County.”
“Wow!” Ding Nuanyang exclaimed excitedly about the food, drawing looks from the other passengers.
“Not just a silly girl, but a foodie too,” Mo Yafei said with a smile, looking towards the front of the bus.
“Stop touching my hair,” Ding Nuanyang complained, swatting away Mo Yafei’s hand. The two then playfully wrestled in the back seat.
Since they heard the farmhouse hosts were known for getting guests drunk, everyone suggested visiting Wild Man Valley first and saving the farmhouse for later.
Arriving at Wild Man Valley, Cheng Zhiyi gathered everyone, repeated safety rules, and led the way with a small flag.
As he walked, he introduced the valley’s highlights, “Wild Man Valley is a crucial passage between Wudang Mountain and Shennongjia, stretching 5 kilometers.”
It features multiple scenic spots like Colorful Gorge, Wild Bath Beach, Hidden Military Cave, Dragon Bile Cliff, Waterfall Group, Wild Man Valley, Heavenly Rope Climbing, Dragon Gate Opening, and Cliff Castle. It’s a tourist destination for spring flower viewing, summer cooling, autumn scenery, and winter snow.
Ya Fei, be careful too, and don’t end up like me!” Just having turned danger into safety, Ding Nuanyang began to demonstrate her style, using her own painful lesson to warn others.
