One Wife, Multiple Husbands – Part One

Ye Hui opened them all to look. They weren’t very valuable, just some ordinary silk fabrics and dried goods. Given the Qin family’s status, these gifts seemed somewhat meager, though the silk was at least presentable and not too embarrassing.

Ye Hui, accompanied by Mo Qi, was about to board the carriage at the gate when she saw her nominal husband riding a tall, magnificent horse approaching from a distance. He was tall, handsome, and looked particularly striking while riding, causing Ye Hui to be momentarily stunned.

Qin Yuhang had been busy for several days transporting goods from Jinshui Town to the imperial capital. If not for remembering his wedding night promise, he would have long forgotten he was a married man with a wife seven or eight years younger than himself.

“You’re back?” Ye Hui smiled in greeting, feeling too unfamiliar to address him properly.

Qin Yuhang, seeing her slender figure in a light crimson dress, felt a touch of tenderness. He dismounted and embraced her by the carriage, then tossed several packages from the horse’s back, instructing the servant to lead the horse back to the mansion before boarding the carriage.

Mo Qi, being a servant, could not squeeze in when the young master was present. He spent a few coins to hire a donkey cart, following his master’s carriage towards the Ye family.

Ye Hui curiously reached out to touch the packages in the carriage corner: “What’s inside?”

“Local specialties from Jinshui Town, prepared as gifts for your Ye family,” Qin Yuhang sat beside her, inhaling her subtle fragrance, feeling somewhat confused. He had seen her several times before – first, before marriage, when she was shy and blushed while speaking; then in the bridal chamber, wearing elaborate wedding attire and composed; now, in a clear and elegant dress, she was as beautiful as a narcissus.

Small Miss, Zhang Er’s father’s son has set his sights on the Ye family’s property, causing trouble at the mansion since last night. Miss, please be careful when you go in.” A De greeted the two and, while carrying things out of the car, whispered to his master.
