One Wife, Multiple Husbands – Part One

Qin Yuhang’s crisp voice was as intimidating as his fists. The two men on the ground trembled all over. He didn’t even look at them, returning to his chair and slowly sipping tea as if nothing had happened.

The sound of fighting in the hall alarmed the servants of the Ye residence, and a dozen figures gathered at the door.

Ye Hui was surprised for a few seconds, but having seen the world, she calmly instructed the servants to carry the two followers out of the Ye family gate. As for whether they were alive or dead, she didn’t care. In feudal times, there was this advantage – killing a few poor people was not held accountable, just like in “Dream of the Red Chamber,” where a few silver coins could settle everything.

Lady Ye was stunned. As a widow raising a seven-year-old son, she was worried about potential retaliation.

“Mother, we will handle this matter and not let you suffer because of my younger brother. You’ve worked hard. Go rest in your room, and I’ll take care of Gui’s affairs,” Ye Hui said, pushing Lady Ye out and calling to the servant: “A Cai, come and help the mistress back to her room.”

A Cai understood his young lady’s hint and quickly half-dragged, half-supported Lady Ye away.

Lady Ye felt something was off and turned back before leaving, saying, “Hui’er, if you want to deal with your big brother, go easy. You’re all my children, and hurting anyone is not good.”

Ye Hui forced a smile, “Don’t worry, mother. He’s my blood-related older brother. I know what I’m doing.”

After seeing her mother leave, she called A De and Mo Qi into the room and closed the door, as the upcoming actions were somewhat unethical and not to be spread around.

“What are you going to do?” Zhang Gui looked fearfully at his sister with a strange expression. Relying on the Zhang family’s indulgence, he spent his days idle, gathering some ruffians and enjoying bullying others. But when facing someone stronger, he was still afraid – the saying “bullying the weak and fearing the strong” perfectly described him.
