Pet Romance

Called You Yu, his mother said he looked like a fried squid face, hence the nickname You Yu. His lover, also his father, explained the name was due to an experience. He was born in the US. On the day he was born, it rained heavily, and after being born, he was moved to the nursery by a nurse. His mother, Shen Qian, didn’t see him until the third day when she could finally get up and look through the nursery window. However, she mistook another baby for her son, doting on her with tears and snot, saying to her lover, “Honey, our baby is so lively, kicking his feet.” Clearly, he was just lying there drooling. His lover looked at him, then back at the baby, his face filled with black lines, patted Shen Qian’s shoulder, and asked gently, “Which baby were you looking at just now?”

“The third one from the left.” She pointed to the girl next to him. It turned out she wasn’t mistaken or cross-eyed; she had been watching the wrong baby with love and joy all along. Realizing this, he burst into tears and started rolling around. His lover, in a deep voice, said, “Qianqian, look at our baby’s name.” The girl next to him was named Jia Yu. His name was You XX.

Later, to commemorate this incident, his mother named him You Yu. Initially, his lover didn’t mind, but later, when buying groceries, an aunt always called out, “A pound of squid, please.” As if he weighed eighteen pounds, shouldn’t it be eighteen pounds of You Yu?

His mother adored his lover, often wanting to sleep with him at night, cuddling and giggling, “Darling, let’s do it.” His lover would calmly start undressing and say, “We should consider seeing a doctor to make you forget this, I’m almost drained.” Then he would counterattack amidst the chaos…

Finally, when he grew to be three years old and could climb onto the bed, his daily job was to climb into his lover’s bed and sleep with him. His lover never refused, but his mother was very stingy, always finding ways to make him go back to his own little wooden bed. He would cry unhappily, fearing his tears, his lover would protect him in his arms, patting his head, turning away to sleep, ignoring her. She would mutter, “I shouldn’t have had him, he steals my man, my embrace, #¥¥%…” He would just listen and then fall asleep.

In fact, he felt his lover cherished his mother. She loved to eat, and although she was skilled in the kitchen, it was always his lover who cooked. His lover was very busy, managing a large hotel, but still took him along. His mother once suggested hiring a nanny, but his lover disagreed. His mother could have quit her job to be a full-time housewife and take care of him, but she refused, saying she preferred nurturing terrestrial animals over marine life. He didn’t understand how this was related to quitting her job.
