Shen Qian was momentarily stunned when a Rolls-Royce Phantom sped by, the first time she had seen one, but she didn’t pay it much attention. The Labrador, Qianqian, suddenly leaped and ran under the car, barking twice at it. Then, the back door of the car opened, and Qianqian jumped in. Shen Qian caught a glimpse of the man inside, wearing a white shirt. His features were strikingly handsome, with a straight nose and slightly pursed thin lips. His complexion was extremely pale, yet Shen Qian had to admit he was the best-looking man she had ever seen. The car door closed automatically, and the Rolls-Royce Phantom drove off. Shen Qian shrugged and looked down at her mixed-breed, who was chewing on the remaining bun while watching the luxurious car disappear into the distance.

Chapter 2 … Shen Qian had no idea that the pet hospital where she worked had such a large headquarters. When she and Li Meili went to report for duty, she let out a yell upon entering the pet hospital, her voice not particularly sharp, but loud enough. Since Shen Qian was not one to easily get shocked, her sudden shout startled Li Meili, causing her to scream in turn, her voice shrill and piercing, drawing curious glances from those around. Li Meili immediately blushed, nudging Shen Qian’s arm, “Are you crazy, yelling so loud?”
Shen Qian wanted to retort, asking who was louder and who was more neurotic, but under Li Meili’s fierce gaze, she held her tongue. They entered the hospital, where a woman in her thirties, who introduced herself as Jiang Jie (her last name was Jiang, first name Ping), greeted them. Jiang Jie was an enthusiastic woman, and quite the gossip.
On their first day at work, Shen Qian and Li Meili fully experienced Jiang Jie’s gossiping prowess, which was honed to perfection. “Let me tell you, our hospital director is a woman in her forties who has never married. Do you know why?” Jiang Jie started chatting when there was nothing to do. Both Shen Qian and Li Meili shook their heads, looking naive.
