Tianye let go of Prince Jia and ran back to where he had just come from, to find Meiyu.
Chapter Forty-Seven (Meiyu Reappears)
Tianye burst forth with all his strength, every muscle tensed, gritting his teeth and running towards Meiyu. Despite his uncomfortable body and the dirty surroundings, Tianye didn’t care. The happiness he had dreamed of day and night was right in front of him, and this time he wouldn’t let her slip away.
Tianye ran wildly through the fog, telling himself that no matter how dark the surroundings, he would find his own pure light. He reached the stairway of the building, caught his breath by the door, and then rushed upstairs.
Tianye ran with all his might, reaching the third floor in one breath. The door was slightly ajar. He yanked it open, rushed in, calling, “Meiyu, Meiyu, where are you!” His voice was loud and determined. He searched every room, but Meiyu was nowhere to be found. Instead, Xiaoxiang entered from outside.
Tianye quickly approached Xiaoxiang, shouting, “Where’s Meiyu? Where is she?”
Startled by Tianye’s sudden roar, Xiaoxiang nervously said, “Meiyu? I don’t know her.”
Tianye was extremely agitated, almost crazy. He grabbed Xiaoxiang’s shoulders, shaking her, shouting about Meiyu. Though his words weren’t entirely clear, his determination was evident.
Xiaoxiang asked, “Are you talking about Xiaoyu? Do you know her?” She suddenly realized the Xiaoyu in the room might be Meiyu.
Tianye wasn’t sure who Xiaoxiang meant, but it was a glimmer of hope. He released her, demanding, “Tell me, where is she? Where?” His voice was almost a roar.
Xiaoxiang mumbled, “If she’s not here, she’s probably at her mother’s. They rented a room in the building ahead. Xiaoyu usually goes to accompany her mother…”
Tianye pushed Xiaoxiang aside and opened the door to run out and find the girl named Xiaoyu.
Tianye ran to the stairway where the old man had emerged, determined to see if it was really Meiyu, believing she would always be alive in his heart.
He entered the stairway, which was cleaner and more orderly than the previous one.
Tianye knocked on every door, searched every room from the first to the third floor, finding no trace of Meiyu.
