Please Be My Princess – Part Two

Mei Yu hurried to take the teapot, saying apologetically, “I’ll do it myself. Thank you, boss. I’ve been at the shop for almost four months now.” After filling the boss’s cup, she didn’t pour one for herself and put the teapot down.

The boss sipped his tea and said, “You’ve been performing well. I’ve been thinking about giving you a raise this month. I know your mother is ill and life is difficult. In the future, don’t be distant with your brother. If you have any difficulties, just tell big brother.” The boss’s words sounded sincere and pleasant, touching Mei Yu.

Mei Yu became less formal, opening up to the boss. “Thank you, boss. Yes, my mother has been ill for years. I need to work hard to earn money for her medicine and treatment. It costs a lot…” Mei Yu’s voice trailed off, clearly disheartened.

On her way home, Mei Yu found a public phone on the roadside, dialed 120, briefly explained the location and injuries to the emergency center, and then hung up and ran.

Mei Yu’s mind was in complete chaos, with scenes from earlier constantly flashing through her mind. She was terrified and didn’t know what to do, running home in a panic….

Soon, Mei Yu returned home. In her disoriented state, she entered and locked the door tightly, leaning against it, breathing heavily with her eyes closed.

At this moment, Mei Yu’s mother had just woken up from a midday nap. Seeing Mei Yu standing at the door in a panic, she asked curiously, “Mei Yu, why are you back now?” Although somewhat puzzled by her daughter’s return, she was mostly happy.

With trembling hands, Mei Yu patted her chest, taking a while to calm her breathing. She dragged her heavy legs to her mother and cried out, “Mom, Mom, I… I killed someone.” Mei Yu was still in an excited state from hitting the boss with the wine bottle. Seeing the boss lying motionless on the ground with blood flowing from his head, she thought he was beyond saving. Mei Yu was terrified; she had never experienced something so devastating.

Mei Yu lay beside her mother, crying, and told her the entire story. She didn’t know what to do and was truly panicked.
