Guan Yue remained silent throughout, enduring the pain but continuously watching Meng Qing. Meng Qing addressed Yu Yi as “madam” repeatedly, and even after being pinched several times by Yu Yi, he did not change his way of addressing her.
Yu Yi felt helpless. Her previous self-deprecating words had barely convinced Guan Yue that he had no genuine feelings for her, thus hiding his identity. Yet here he was, calling her “madam”.
“
Fu Cheng finally brought a doctor who, after examining Guan Yue, said his bones were not dislocated. Guan Yue glanced at Meng Qing, seemingly saying, “Young Master Meng, you were mistaken.”
The doctor then added, “But to be safe, we’ll use splints to stabilize the injury and have him rest in bed.”
Meng Qing raised an eyebrow at Guan Yue.
Yu Yi rubbed her forehead, speechless. She saw the doctor out, taking the opportunity to leave the room growing thick with tension.
Meng Qing followed her out and said, “Madam, the bones are set, the doctor has been consulted. Shouldn’t we send Captain Guan back now?”
Yu Yi replied, “He was injured saving me. With such an injury, how can we ask him to leave immediately?”
Meng Qing said discontentedly, “There was no need for his rescue. Even without him present, you wouldn’t have been hurt. He’s just meddling and asking for trouble.”
Yu Yi sighed, “He didn’t know I wouldn’t be hurt from such a fall. Since he meant well, I can’t immediately ask him to leave… How about this: if he suggests leaving, we’ll send him off.”
However, Guan Yue made no mention of leaving. Instead, he asked Fu Cheng to go to the city the next day to explain his injury and request leave from the yamen, appearing as if he would stay at Xiye Mountain Villa until fully recovered.
That night before sleeping, Meng Qing opened his terminal to download the latest task list and turned to ask Yu Yi, “Madam, what tasks are we doing early tomorrow?”
The conversation continues with complex interactions between Yu Yi and Meng Qing, revealing tensions and unspoken feelings.
She turned around, not looking at Meng Qing standing right behind her, and walked directly past him towards the room she had originally lived in.
Chapter 120: Yu Yi’s Spacetime (28)
Meng Qing saw Yu Yi ignore him and walk past, reached out and grabbed her arm, saying softly, “It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have gotten angry with you.”
Yu Yi gave a cold laugh, “What could Young Master Meng have done wrong? It was I who shouldn’t have left behind Guard Guan. I should have sent him away immediately after the doctor finished prescribing medicine.” As she spoke, she forcefully shook off Meng Qing’s grip and walked towards the inner courtyard.
Meng Qing quickly caught up with her, saying, “I didn’t mean to mock you, I just…”
Yu Yi said, “Young Master Meng simply doesn’t believe me.”
Meng Qing said, “No, I was afraid.”
Yu Yi stopped, looking at him in confusion: “Afraid?”
Meng Qing stood in front of her, speaking softly: “I’ve told you about my past. I’ve always been alone, and I’ve never been this afraid of losing someone before. Just thinking about you leaving me feels unbearable…”
Yu Yi looked at him carefully, her gaze gradually softening. She reached out to gently touch his face, caressing his smooth cheek, and said softly: “I won’t leave you.”
He placed his hand on the back of hers, slightly turning his face to leave a warm kiss in her palm, gazing at her with passionate eyes, and whispered: “I want to establish a proper identity in this spacetime, and then marry you openly, so no one else will have a chance.”
Yu Yi laughed lightly: “Aren’t I already married to you?”
Meng Qing shook his head, seriously saying: “Not enough. I want to marry you in every spacetime to prevent any future troubles.”
Yu Yi chuckled: “That would keep us busy. You can handle getting married, but I’m not willing to play along.”
Meng Qing wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close, and softly threatened: “Dare you not play along?”
Yu Yi laughed quietly without speaking. He lowered his head to kiss her, then suddenly said “Oh” and asked: “What’s broken here?”
Meng Qing refused, chuckling softly: “This is to make amends. Let me help you bathe.” While speaking, he removed his own clothes, checked the water temperature, and then brought her under the warm water flow.
Yu Yi’s face flushed from his touch, and she said coyly, “Why aren’t you behaving?” Yet her tone held no real reproach.
Meng Qing rested his head on her shoulder, looking at her shy expression and asking softly, “Does my wife like me being naughty?”
Yu Yi’s face grew even redder, turning her head away to hide her embarrassment. Meng Qing, finding her shyness amusing, pressed on: “At least tell me, am I serving you comfortably?”
Yu Yi didn’t answer, instead reaching back to pinch his waist. Meng Qing yelped in pain, speaking with mock grievance: “My dear wife, if you really want to pinch, I’ll accept it, but at least change the spot. You see, I knew if you keep washing the same spot, you wouldn’t like it either, right?”
Before he could finish, he was pinched again, this time on the other side of his waist. Meng Qing murmured, “At least you changed the spot.”
Though he said he was helping her bathe, he didn’t let her move at all. After washing, he dried her body, then carried her to bed, not allowing her to wear clothes, holding her from behind and insisting she sleep.
Yu Yi said: “I can’t sleep like this. I want to wear something.”
Meng Qing laughed lightly: “Can’t sleep? Then let’s do it again.”
Yu Yi anxiously said: “No, you’ll hurt yourself.”
“Then just sleep.”
“but I really can’t sleep like this.”
“Nothing more.”
The atmosphere shifted slightly, as Meng Qing teased Lin Bai about his intrusion, yet he was keenly aware of the tender moment that Yu Yi and he had shared. He leaned back slightly, ensuring Yu Yi was still cocooned in the blankets, bringing a smile to his face.
“Okay, I get it. Just don’t give me nightmares. I know how loud your singing can be,” Lin Bai replied, trying to lighten the mood.
Meng Qing shook his head, chuckling lightly as he glanced back to Yu Yi, who had finally emerged enough from the cocoon of blankets to give a playful pout in Lin Bai’s direction.
As they continued to jest, the morning sun peeked through the window, casting a warm glow that filled the room, enhancing the sense of comfort and camaraderie among friends.
“So, what’s the plan for today?” Lin Bai asked, clearly eager to steer the conversation away from awkwardness.
“Let’s enjoy the day. Maybe go for a hike later?” Yu Yi suggested, sitting up fully now, her interest piqued.
“Great idea! I know a perfect spot,” Meng Qing responded enthusiastically, happy to engage in an adventure with them.
“
“There’s an urgent mission that needs support. Can you two help?”
Yu Yi pulled down the blanket slightly, resting her chin on it, looking at Meng Qing. Meng Qing looked back at her, and she nodded slightly.
Meng Qing said: “Okay, tell us about the mission.”
Lin Bai said: “The mission details have been sent to your terminal. The original executor was Hun Chuan, but he was seriously injured and can’t continue.”
Meng Qing opened the terminal and quickly read it, then extended his arm for Yu Yi to see.
Yu Yi saw it was the AA-level mission they had seen after returning from Black Pearl Island – a succession dispute among princes. Previously, Meng Qing had refused due to the excessive killing involved.
Meng Qing asked: “Does the mission seem more dangerous than expected? Hasn’t the star rating increased?”
Lin Bai said: “The star rating hasn’t increased, but the reward has – added 10,000 points. It’s best if completed together. My other team is currently on another mission, though they could wait…”
Meng Qing looked at Yu Yi: “Do it?”
