Yu Yi softly replied, “I said exactly what you told me to.”
Tang Jian deliberately lowered his voice further, “Did you say I hit you?”
Yu Yi looked up at him, “With injuries like these, would anyone believe I just fell?”
“You!” Tang Jian was about to get angry again. The baby-faced officer called out, “Tang Jian, are you doing the statement or not?”
“Yes,” Tang Jian answered, turning back to warn Yu Yi, “Wait for me here.” Then he went inside.
Yu Yi didn’t wait. She took a taxi directly to Lijing Garden, grabbed a few change of clothes, took her passbook and credit card, and left.
When Yu Yi arrived at Feng Li’s parents’ home, she saw the lights on in the second-floor apartment. Her heart sank – it was already midnight, and why would her parents’ lights be on unless something was wrong? Had Tang Jian already come?
But Tang Jian shouldn’t have reacted so quickly. He would have thought she just went home in a fit of anger and only realize she was gone when he got home. He couldn’t possibly be here already.
Yu Yi climbed the stairs and Feng Li’s father, Feng Hongwei, opened the door. She looked behind him and didn’t see Tang Jian, which made her slightly relieved.
At this point, Feng Li’s mother, Tang Yuying, also came out of the bedroom. Seeing the injuries on her face, she approached with concern to check her injuries while asking in surprise, “Lili, what’s going on? Why did you run from the hospital? Xiao Tang is worried sick!”
Yu Yi was stunned, then realized, “Did Tang Jian call?
“Yes,” Tang Yuying rambled, “Xiao Tang just called saying you accidentally fell down the stairs and hit your head. He didn’t want to worry us, but after taking you to the hospital and noticing you were completely different, always saying someone was trying to harm you, he went to get the report and you disappeared. He’s afraid you might be having hallucinations from hitting your head…”
Yu Yi said directly, “I wasn’t injured from falling. Tang Jian hit me.”
“What?!” Feng Hongwei was extremely shocked.
