The CEO’s Dancing Wife – Part Two

Zhang Rong’s mansion was even more impressive than the Fang family’s old residence where Fang Junjie had taken Fu Xiaotang before. There were no armed guards at the door, and the interior was not overly luxurious, just incredibly spacious. Zhang Rong, still in his dark Chinese tunic suit, seemed very pleased to see them. He nodded slightly with a smile, “Good, Xiaotang. I hope you’ll come often, even if Azun isn’t available, you can come by yourself.” Fu Xiaotang softly agreed, “Okay.” Fang Junjie walked over with a smile, “Come, I’ll show you around upstairs.” Zhang Rong pretended to be displeased, glancing at Fang Junjie, “You two are always together; can’t you spare me a moment? It’s Xiaotang’s first visit, let her sit and chat with me, this old man, for a bit, can’t you?” Fang Junjie laughed, holding Fu Xiaotang’s hand, “It’s because it’s her first time here that I want to show her around, to make her familiar with the place. You won’t be short of time for her to keep you company later.” Zhang Rong detected the unspoken meaning in his words and merely smiled faintly, watching as the two of them left hand in hand. Zhang Yindi, deep in thought, asked, “How do you feel about it?” Zhang Rong, lost in thought for a moment, did not respond directly but instead asked, “Did you prepare that outfit for her?” Zhang Yindi softly replied, “Several times, when I looked at her, I couldn’t help but think of Fang’er; their faces seemed to overlap in a blur.” Zhang Rong was silent for a while before saying lightly, “Looking alike doesn’t mean anything. Over twenty years ago, if I hadn’t believed the one-sided story and thought Fang’er’s child was dead, I wouldn’t have wasted so many lonely years.” Zhang Yindi shook her head, “Even if we knew she wasn’t dead back then, her biological father and Fang’er’s family were still around. What right did we have to claim the child?” Zhang Rong sighed, “If she had grown up by my side, I would have cherished her more than anyone.” Hearing the deep regret in his voice, Zhang Yindi felt a pang in her heart; no one knew better than she did how Zhang Rong had endured day by day over the years. “Brother…” Zhang Rong smiled lightly, feigning cheerfulness, “I’m fine. It’s not too late now that we’ve found her. Anyway, one of them must be her; there can’t be a third person.” He then looked at Zhang Yindi with a smile, “Guess what? That girl, I mean Fu Xiaotang, her eyes showed deep sympathy when she looked at me. Imagine, someone like me, who’s faced death several times, being pitied by such a young girl.” Zhang Yindi couldn’t help but laugh, “That silly child, she probably didn’t even consider it for herself, just felt sorry for your unrequited affection.” Zhang Rong became slightly serious, “Just for that, whether she’s Fang’er’s child or not, I’m inclined to accept her as my daughter.” Zhang Yindi, delighted but teasing, said, “You’re getting addicted to adopting daughters. Xiaotang’s charm is something Liu Yi can’t learn or fake. As the saying goes, ‘You’ll know a horse’s strength after a long journey.'”
