The Devil’s Designated Lover

As soon as the call connected, Jun Hao’s anxious voice came through: “An Ke, is that you?” Without getting a response, he blurted out concerned words: “An Ke, tell me where you are. I’m worried about you.”

Hearing his voice, An Ke moved the phone away and sniffled. As soon as Jun Hao spoke her name, she could barely speak.

“Tell me where you are. I’ll come pick you up immediately.”

An Ke told him her location, not to go with him, but to talk things through.

Jun Hao drove and found An Ke within minutes. She stood there, letting the rain soak her.

“An Ke…” he called softly, seeing her standing in the rain, his heart aching to numbness.

The night was late, with few pedestrians on the street, and the rain grew heavier.

“Jun Hao, don’t come closer,” she stopped him when he was about ten steps away.

“Don’t be like this. You’ll get sick,” he always felt she was about to disappear from his sight.

“Let me finish speaking before deciding to stay or go.”

“Come back with me and we’ll talk.”

“If you don’t listen, I’ll leave right now.”

“Okay, speak quickly.” He ultimately couldn’t resist her.

“Jun Hao, you’ve been playing with me all along. You never loved me, right?” She shouted loudly: “You must tell the truth. I won’t be sad or upset.”

Jun Hao stepped closer to her, more sincere than ever: “An Ke, do you really think I would spend so much time on an insignificant woman? Maybe initially, I just wanted to play with you. I disliked your arrogant attitude and wanted to make you submit to me. I wanted to capture your heart, to see you docile. But who knew, I would lose my own heart instead.” His voice was hoarse, rain soaking him. He continued slowly: “I tried to forget you over time, but the longer it took, the deeper your mark became in my heart.” He slowly approached her, extending a hand: “An Ke, I truly love you. Please believe me.”
