Jun Hao hesitated for a moment, then strode towards her, taking off his coat. Reaching her, he wrapped the coat around her without giving her a chance to refuse: “It’s so cold. Why are you running around instead of resting?” His words carried a hint of reproach, but more concern.
An Ke ignored his question, letting him hold her. She asked softly, “Can I go inside and see?”
“This is not something you should ask about,” Jun Hao furrowed his brow slightly, his tone firm. “We’re going home now.”
“Not something I should ask about? Then tell me what I’m allowed to ask? I can’t even ask about the murderers who killed my child?” An Ke pushed Jun Hao away with all her strength, looking up at him. “Are you hiding something? Are you trying to silence everyone?”
Jun Hao ignored her extreme words, reaching out to grab her: “An Ke, stop. I’ll handle the child’s matter. That was our child. I won’t let him die in vain.”
“No, that was only my child, not yours. You have no right to say such things.” Jun Hao saw the deep hatred in her eyes.
He moved closer: “An Ke, come home with me.”
An Ke shook her head, stepping back, her voice desolate: “Home? Where is my home? You’ve already destroyed my home. You made me lose two loved ones, and now you want to take me back to what you call ‘home’. Do you know? It’s like a cage that suffocates me. If possible, I never want to step foot there again.”
“If not home, I’ll take you somewhere else,” Jun Hao responded urgently, her attempt to escape making him uneasy.
An Ke laughed coldly: “You’re wrong. Wherever you are is a cage for me. When I first met your noble mother, I thought she was different from other rich ladies. Who knew she had a heart like a snake. You’re just like her, both good at acting. You think I’ll obediently believe you just because you’re nice to me for a few days. Do you know what I want most now? I want to kill Lin Xuan Hua with my own hands and make her join my child.”
