The Duke’s Affair -Part One

From Passion to Ashes: Chapter Fifty-Four, A Night Alone

Ye Ye stared at her phone, which received no response, and tried calling again only to find it turned off. She slumped onto the sofa, laughing bitterly at herself, tears welling in her eyes. It seemed that to Dean, she was nothing at all; after their first night together, he could cast her aside so decisively over a slight misunderstanding… The quiet apartment echoed with her sobs, the night – cold and lonely, as if mocking her for playing a dangerous game and losing miserably… She deserved it… She should have known this would be the outcome, shouldn’t she? As dawn approached, she realized she had been sitting in silence for three hours. Ye Ye gave a wry smile, thinking of it as a way to remember her first night. The next second, she decided to let go! Back in her room, trying to sleep, she saw the tranquil night outside the window and the cold, empty bed, which made her thoughts painfully clear… She was growing to hate these lonely nights. She wanted to indulge… She needed an embrace to lose herself in… to escape from thinking…
