“Ring ring ring—” The phone on the bedside suddenly rang. Dean frowned, quickly picked it up to not wake Ye Ye — “Mr. President, your wife has been calling all night, asking for your whereabouts.” The assistant, having waited for dawn, dared to report to Dean, knowing he had taken a woman to his room and didn’t dare disturb him earlier. Now that it was morning, Dean should be up, and the woman would have left! Dean had a habit of not keeping women overnight. “Yes, I understand.” Dean replied in French. “Madam seems very upset, she might come to Paris looking for you.” The assistant said. “What did you tell her?” Dean asked. “I told her you were gambling with friends all night.” “Good, you did well.” Dean hung up. He turned to look at Ye Ye, who didn’t seem to have been disturbed. He got up quietly, went to the living room, and dialed the number of the castle in the suburbs of Paris. His phone could hide the caller ID, so he wasn’t worried about his private number being known unless he wanted it to be. “Hello—” came the somewhat weary voice of his wife, clearly having not slept. Dean said lightly, “Misha, are you looking for me?” “Darling, where are you? Why haven’t you answered my calls all night? Didn’t your assistant tell you I was looking for you?” Misha asked relentlessly. “Misha, hasn’t Jon already told you what I was doing?” he said with a hint of displeasure. “But, you’ve never not called me back, even when you’re busy!” Misha said with grievance. “Alright, I have things to do. Stay at the castle, I’ll come back when I’m done.” “No, darling, can you come back later today? I miss you so much! If you’re not free, I can come find you!” Misha pleaded weakly. “I understand, I’ll make time to come back at noon, be good.”
“Bye—” Dean hung up the phone without any hesitation; subconsciously, he didn’t want Misha to come looking for him. Leaning back in his chair, he took a deep breath, feeling a heavy burden about his marriage for the first time…
