The Duke’s Affair -Part One

Ye Ye parked her car in front of the villa, grabbed her bag, and got out; it was around 2 AM, but there were still bodyguards and servants on duty at the entrance and in the foyer. Seeing Ye Ye, the servant was momentarily stunned, then as if remembering something, stepped forward, “Are you Miss Ye Ye?” the servant asked in English. “Yes!” Ye Ye replied indifferently. “Please go to the room on the left on the second floor.” Ye Ye nodded and ascended the stairs with arrogance. At that moment, a bodyguard approached with a metal detector, scanning Ye Ye. When the detector beeped over her bag, the bodyguard, aware that it indicated a weapon, tactfully said, “Miss, could you please hand over your bag for safekeeping?” Ye Ye remembered the gun in her bag, which she had brought for self-defense during the night drive. Not wanting to cause trouble, she handed the bag to the maid. “Miss, rest assured, I will return your bag to you exactly as it is when you leave!” the maid said in a peculiar tone. “What do you mean?” Ye Ye, about to ascend the stairs, stopped, turned, and asked with a hint of displeasure, noticing the subtle mockery in the maid’s eyes and tone. “Because the Duke never lets women stay overnight…” the maid bowed her head, though respectful, her disdain was palpable to Ye Ye. “Well, rest assured, I will definitely be the exception! So, please take good care of my bag!” Ye Ye said with pride, then proceeded upstairs without further ado.
