The Duke’s Affair – Part Two [Complited]

Two hours later, Ye Ye was reluctantly brought back to the villa by Dean. Accompanying them were a doctor and two nurses… The servants, under Jones’s direction, arranged for the doctor and nurses to rest in a guest room on the first floor. Ye Ye was nestled in Dean’s arms, surveying the hall – the originally pale gray carpet had been replaced with a wine-red one, the black luxury sofa was now beige leather, and the rectangular coffee table was now an oval made entirely of crystal… It seemed Dean really had everything that woman touched replaced… Ye Ye’s originally displeased heart was slightly balanced, but her face still showed a mix of irritation and non-irritation… When the old butler, Zeta, saw his Duke holding a girl like a koala, appearing in the hall, he was slightly taken aback. Upon recognizing the girl’s face, he couldn’t hide his surprise – was this the girl who had stayed over a few days ago and caused a ruckus with a gun last night, Ye Ye? But then, seeing the deep affection hidden in his master’s face, he quickly understood that this girl was an exception for the Duke… “Welcome back, sir! And Miss Ye Ye, welcome to you too!” Zeta noticed the injury on Ye Ye’s forehead and the accompanying doctor, so he added: “Is the injury serious, Miss?” Ye Ye didn’t climb down from Dean, still tightly holding him with her right hand, her left hand limp against his shoulder. Although she tried to maintain her usual cold and haughty demeanor, Dean resignedly supported her bottom with one hand and fixed her waist with the other, allowing her to hang onto him like a koala – thankfully, Dean was tall and strong, and Ye Ye wasn’t heavy… They sat down on the sofa in the hall. “Hello, Uncle Zeta, thank you for your concern, the injury isn’t a big deal!” Ye Ye slightly turned her body to look at Zeta, pointing at her forehead and her powerless left arm: “Ouch – it just hurts a lot!” She frowned slightly. “Poor thing, your complexion looks so bad, I’ll have the kitchen prepare some good food to nourish you!” Zeta said from the heart, genuinely caring for Ye Ye, for who could resist her charm? Especially now, with her pale face, looking so pitiful and harmless! “Thank you, Uncle! Uh – I want to eat bird’s nest… the best kind… and tuna potato salad…” Ye Ye blinked, looking adorable, yet still showing her passion for luxury… Zeta smiled slightly: “Of course, it will be the best!” He then bowed and headed to the kitchen… Dean looked at the little thing in his arms; if any other woman had said the same thing, he would have thought it pretentious and greedy. However, when these words came out of Ye Ye’s mouth, Dean naturally wanted to pamper her, to give her the best, as if it was only right and natural to do so… Why exactly? … It must be because I’m older than Ye Ye! Yes, that must be it! But, it’s not like I haven’t met women younger than Ye Ye before… Strange… Oh, forget it, I won’t think about it anymore… Dean gave up pondering over the perplexing issue… Let’s just say it’s compensation for causing Ye Ye’s injury in the car accident… “Ye Ye, can you come down?” Dean tried to carry Ye Ye to the sofa to let her sit by herself. “No, you insisted on bringing me back, so you must let me do whatever I want! Besides, my inability to take care of myself is also your fault! So, you must stay with me at all times!” Ye Ye justified her clinginess with a sense of entitlement, her small head shaking like a rattle. She was deliberately trying to tarnish his noble and aloof image! “Stop shaking; doesn’t your head hurt?” Dean held her head steady with his large hand, recalling the severe blow she had just received. Although the doctor said it was nothing serious, it didn’t mean Ye Ye wasn’t weak! He was worried that if she kept shaking, her brain might turn to mush before the car accident’s effects did. “Hiss—It hurts—” Ye Ye was genuinely in pain, and with the little strength she had left, she clung to Dean. Watching Ye Ye return to her sweet, coquettish self, Dean couldn’t bring himself to scold her and could only say helplessly, “I need to go to the study to check some emails; you know the Prosperous Court is about to break ground! Let me carry you back to your room to rest first.” “No, I just woke up; I don’t want to sleep! I want to come with you. It’s business secrets, right? I understand, I won’t look at the screen!” Ye Ye mumbled. “Alright.” Dean gave up trying to reason with her; it seemed pointless… Who told him to have such a soft heart for her? [From Passion to Ardor: Chapter Sixty-Eight, Dean’s Indulgence] Nestled in Dean’s embrace, Ye Ye lay on the desk, enjoying bird’s nest soup and salad brought by the servants, her favorite dishes. Meanwhile, Dean was meticulously reviewing the design drafts he received in his email, making final comparisons and selections… He paid no mind to Ye Ye potentially leaking business secrets because, in his eyes, Ye Ye was the type who would rather spend time openly competing with others or teasingly challenging him, rather than engage in the complex task of stealing trade secrets… Probably full from eating, Ye Ye hooked her right hand around Dean’s neck, resting her head on his arm, not caring if such a posture would tire him, and pushed the plate aside with a burp: “I want to sleep… The first design looks the best…” Dean looked at Ye Ye, who had closed her eyes, resembling a lazy cat, her face still pale but her lips slightly red, and he frowned. She really treated herself like a koala… Shaking his head, he felt the difficulty of inviting a deity and then trying to send it away… He adjusted her posture. Dean picked up the phone—”Xiu, use design number A0001, and notify their design team to come to the branch office for a meeting tomorrow.” With just a word from Ye Ye, this relatively unknown design company compared to other renowned firms, leaped onto the first tier of the design world! “A0001?” Simon Xiu was also visibly surprised by Dean’s decision. Holding the phone, he pulled up the draft, and after a careful comparison, Simon Xiu agreed that A0001 indeed had unique innovations. He immediately said, “Yes, it does have some insights! Alright, I’ll notify them right away.” “And when will Xun arrive?” Dean asked. “Tomorrow, I’ve already informed him.” Simon Xiu replied. “Hmm.” Dean hung up after saying this. ———————————————— The afternoon sun gently filtered through the window lattice, and Dean suddenly felt a bit sleepy, having stayed up all night with Ye Ye. He picked up the now sleeping Ye Ye and returned to his bedroom. Gently embracing her, they took a nap together… When Dean woke up and moved slightly, he found the injured little cat was no longer in his arms. He sat up abruptly, now dressed in black casual wear, and went downstairs. Where had his little cat gone? With such severe injuries, how could she still not rest? Entering the hall, he found no trace of Ye Ye. Displeased, he furrowed his brows, thinking perhaps she had gone back to that damn Dragon Domain. Waving his hand, a maid approached: “Sir, what are your instructions?” she asked respectfully. “Where is the young lady?” Dean asked coldly. “The young lady and the butler are in the back garden,” the maid answered softly. Without turning back, Dean quickly walked into the garden. Amidst a sea of flowers, Ye Ye was facing away from him, holding something and teasing it, calling out, “Duke, Duke, you’ve got to be good…” “Woof—” The response was a dubious whimper… Zeta stood by with a pale face, shoulders slumped, clearly on the verge of tears. Seeing Dean approaching, he was about to speak but was stopped by Dean’s wave of the hand. “Duke, you’re a grown-up, you should act like one! Be majestic, like someone! Don’t always drool over pretty girls!” Ye Ye continued, oblivious. “Woof—” Dean leaned forward to take a look and was stunned—a purebred, snow-white Samoyed, round and no more than half a year old… What was worse, Ye Ye had named it ‘Duke’! “What did you call it?” Dean asked in a low voice. Startled by the voice from behind, Ye Ye turned around, still holding the dog: “Duke, of course!” ———————————————— Today, I had classes all day, finishing at ten in the evening, so I could only update this late. Regarding some readers mentioning that Yan Ye had previously published this chapter and “My Demon” elsewhere, Yan Ye admits it’s true. However, that site had system issues, and despite repeated requests for improvement, I received no response or attention. Although the text is fundamentally the same, what’s posted here has been revised multiple times, with improvements in plot and typo corrections. Out of respect for Xiaoxiang and the labor of Yan Ye, please, dear reader, do not mention other websites on the Xiaoxiang platform. Thank you! Yan Ye also wants to clarify that, in comparison, Xiaoxiang provides a better platform for authors and readers… This is a fact!
