The Enigma Squad

Luo Yingbai clapped three times, and suddenly a fire dragon emerged, instantly brightening the surroundings and breaking through the endless darkness. Carrying the momentum of wind and thunder, it rose up and surrounded the Dual Birth Demon, which was rolling in pain.

Xia Xianning’s barrier had been shattered, and his fire dragon couldn’t last long in this yin-rich environment. But in the midst of the sparks, he had already formed a sword gesture, using the Western Lu Yan Huang sword he had left in the demon to slice off its other head.

Then Xia Xianning extended his arm, and the long sword flew back to his palm. The sword tip trembled, generating a streak of light out of thin air that shattered the black mist again. Luo Yingbai took the opportunity to throw out three yellow talismans, and the fire surged, completely burning the Dual Birth Demon.

Luo Yingbai said, “Oh, we’ve been sealed inside.”

We’re done for.”

Xia Xianning replied, “I detect a hint of joy in your tone.”

Luo Yingbai said, “It’s an illusion. You know my acting has always been good. This is what being scared sounds like.”

He pulled out a yellow talisman, rolled it into a tube, and flicked it. The paper tube shot out like an arrow towards the glass, exploding with a bang, yet the glass remained unbroken.

Suddenly, a pale white light cast down from above, and a blurry human figure grew from the ashes. His features were indistinct, but his body suggested an adult male.

Luo Yingbai’s brow furrowed, but Xia Xianning had seen this scene before and was much calmer this time. He pulled Luo Yingbai behind him and coldly squeezed out three words: “Ge Panming.”

Hearing this name, Luo Yingbai was startled. Looking up, he heard the figure laugh softly and say, “Hello, gentlemen.”

The voice wasn’t unpleasant, but it was like it carried ice shards – cold and sharp. Even with a hint of laughter, it was deeply uncomfortable when it reached the ears.

Xia Xianning said flatly, “Hiding and peeking. Boring.”

As he spoke these words, he stomped his foot. The sword that had fallen to the ground was shaken up, and a cold light flashed through the air, stabbing in the opposite direction of Ge Panming, suddenly pinning a previously unseen figure to the wall.

The speaking shadow instantly disappeared, but the pinned figure burst into wild laughter and then actually walked down from the wall, with the Western Lu Yan Huang sword still embedded in its body, dragging a trail of blood with each step.

Walking and laughing, he said, “It’s truly my sin to bore Captain Xia.”

Luo Yingbai said, “Repeatedly appearing through illusions, now possessing a corpse – Ge Panming, if you’re not brave enough to fight directly, why appear at all?”

The corpse’s footsteps stopped. Its neck seemed stiff and unable to move, turning half its body to look at Luo Yingbai.

Xia Xianning drew his long sword back to his hand with a single gesture. Blood sprayed from the opponent’s chest, yet they remained motionless, laughing eerily and softly saying, “How wonderful. You are Luo Yingbai. Meeting you is not easy.”

Just as he spoke, three twin demons suddenly ran out nearby and pounced towards Xia and Luo.

Xia Xianning didn’t waste a word, kicking out and squarely hitting one twin demon’s chin, sending it flying. He then formed a hand seal, and a cloud light appeared out of thin air in midair, floating unpredictably and intercepting the three monsters.

Luo Yingbai seemed oblivious to Xia Xianning’s situation, focusing intently on his opponent.

When Ge Panming had spoken earlier, the angle changed and moonlight illuminated his face.

This person had no eyebrows, no eyes, no nose, no ears – on a face like a blank slate, only a pair of blood-red lips stood out, looking bizarrely abrupt.

Facing such a face, Luo Yingbai not only showed no fear but slowly took two steps forward, smiling and asking, “Since you want to see me, why don’t you have eyes?”

Ge Panming’s blood-red lips curved slightly, seeming extremely pleased, and replied, “Because you are in my heart. I can see you without eyes.”

“Is that so?” Luo Yingbai muttered to himself, “Seems I have another admirer. Too bad my heart doesn’t belong to you. Won’t you consider revealing your true self and letting me take a good look?”

Ge Panming’s tone was surprisingly affectionate: “Want to see me? Keep looking. The best time will be before you die, when I’ll definitely let you see.”

If his intention was to disgust Luo Yingbai, he miscalculated. Luo Yingbai remained unfazed, saying, “Listening to you sounds quite passionate.”

The person opposite suddenly fell silent, slowly raising a hand to touch his lips.

Luo Yingbai casually wiped the spot on his face where Gao Xiang had kissed, smiling, “My face isn’t easy to kiss. When breaths mingle and souls resonate, even if you were left with just a mouth, I’d remember you. Ge Panming, did you enjoy playing crazy through Gao Xiang’s body last time? I’m happy to know you’re here too.”

The conversation continues with intense interactions between Luo Yingbai, Ge Panming, and Xia Xianning, filled with supernatural elements and hidden tensions.

Lo Yingbai quickly dodged forward: “Xia Xianning, you’re going too far!”

Xia Xianning spread his arms and caught him, directly embracing him, and with a flying kick, broke open the window, jumping out of the cafeteria building and landing smoothly.

After jumping down, he put Lo Yingbai down, and before they could speak, he pulled out a stack of yellow talismans from his pocket and waved them. The talismans neatly arranged in front of Lo Yingbai. Lo Yingbai pushed out with both palms, and the yellow talismans flew like recruitment flyers at a school entrance, falling on the walls around the cafeteria and disappearing in a flash, sealing the building tightly.

Lo Yingbai directly sat down on the ground, and after a moment, sighed: “Finally got out alive.”

Xia Xianning stood straight, with sweat sliding down his sharp features. He was originally looking at the cafeteria building, and when he heard Lo Yingbai’s words, he turned to glance at him. Lo Yingbai quickly continued: “…and it’s time for the lineage to end.”

Xia Xianning’s mouth twitched: “…”

The two looked at each other and suddenly laughed together.

Xia Xianning bent down and extended a hand to Lo Yingbai, saying: “Get up, or I can carry you on my back. Let’s leave here and rest first. The yin energy is heavy and not good for the body.”

Lo Yingbai handed his hand to Xia Xianning, letting him pull himself up, and patted Xia Xianning’s shoulder, signaling him to crouch down: “You have the nerve to look at me. I was so scared by you that my legs went soft.”

Xia Xianning showed no shame, said “Is that so,” and then lifted his trouser leg and bent down with his back to Lo Yingbai, actually planning to carry him. Lo Yingbai touched Xia Xianning’s solid back, but unexpectedly kicked his buttocks and ran away laughing.

Xia Xianning reacted quickly, stumbled by the kick, and then turned to chase Lo Yingbai.

The two ran to the main entrance of the cafeteria. The crowd had been dispersed by other special investigation personnel. When they saw Pan Lei’s parents, they immediately rushed over, anxiously asking about the situation.

Xia Xianning said: “Pan Lei is not inside. There’s about a fifty percent chance of survival. I can’t disclose the specific details. Please go home and wait for news.”

He raised his chin: “Wei Shou.”

Wei Shou understood and immediately went to persuade the anxious couple, sending them back.

Xia Xianning dispatched tasks, sealing and establishing a barrier around the hospital cafeteria and requiring density checks of yin energy in the surrounding area, with dangerous zones needing isolation.

While he was busy, Gou Songze approached, holding something like an incense burner with smoke rising from the incense.
