When Luo Yingbai got out of the car, it was already dark, with almost no one around. The driver quickly took the money and sped away.
Luo Yingbai identified the address and walked towards the building where Xia Zheng lived. Just before reaching the location, he suddenly stopped.
He seemed to hear a distant, piercing scream.
The sound came from far away, slightly muffled, and after one cry, there was silence. A nearby household seemed to open their window to look, then quickly shut it again.

He hesitated, walking towards the direction of the sound. After a short interval, he seemed to hear faint crying and chaotic footsteps.
