People seemed to sense a breeze-like feeling, slowly withdrawing their gaze from the two small figures, turning to stare at the man.
The white-robed man watched their figures, laughing softly, his eyes filled with an indescribable doting and more – a sense of relief.
This time, he finally met her first –
“How’s this? Not bad!” I proudly pointed at my outfit – a gray robe, gold crown holding my hair, holding a fragrant fan, looking like a noble young master. Wu’er beside me was a handsome little page boy. We looked like we’d stepped out of a painting – just a size too small.
“Let’s go, I’ll show you the sights!” I dramatically closed the fan, but the fan was too large for my small strength. Like a thrown egg, it traced a perfect arc in the air.
In my stunned moment, I clearly heard gasps around me.
- My fan had hit the white-robed man’s face.
I secretly sighed. How unlucky could I be? The fan had to fly and hit someone. I desperately waved at Wu’er, planning to use my ultimate move – the “Golden Cicada Sheds Its Shell” strategy. But after waving for ages, she showed no reaction, instead casting flirtatious glances at the white-robed man.
I was utterly defeated, helplessly grabbing her sleeve and rushing towards a side alley.
“Wasn’t that man nice? Want to look a bit longer?” I smiled at Wu’er, but she seemed lost in her fantasy.
“Let’s go in!” I playfully hit her head, thinking she was so similar to Meng Xin – a perfect replica.
“Miss, where is this?” Wu’er stared blankly at the colorful “tavern” before her.
Carved jade walls, magnificent and grand, but the entrance was filled with garishly painted women, dressed provocatively, shoulders half-exposed, greeting with coquettish smiles.
Wu’er looked uncertain, hesitantly saying, “Miss, are you sure about this? Isn’t this tavern a bit… off?”
I raised an eyebrow, shrugging nonchalantly: “If you don’t want to come, don’t. I’ll go in alone.” I didn’t look at her, striding inside.
I knew she wouldn’t abandon me, and I still needed her help with hearing.
“I’ll still come with you. What would you do without me?” Wu’er muttered to herself, following my steps.
