The dishes were Hunan cuisine, quite spicy. As Yin Wancheng ate, he suddenly noticed tears in Xu Ke’s eyes. “What’s wrong?” Xu Ke, embarrassed, wiped her eyes, “It’s too spicy, it got to me.” Saying so, she put down her chopsticks and hurriedly walked towards the restroom. Closing the bathroom door, she could no longer hold back and covered her face. Tears surged through her fingers like water released from a dam. After some time, Xu Ke managed to calm her emotions, washed her face with cold water, and stepped out of the bathroom. In the mirror at the door, she saw her pale, delicate face, where she could clearly see the sorrow and struggle in her own eyes. She walked back to the dining table with her head down, finding Yin Wancheng on a phone call, his expression grave. She sat down silently, hearing Yin Wancheng say into the phone, “I’ll be right back, I’ll be home in about half an hour.” After hanging up, Yin Wancheng’s face also looked troubled. “Xiao Ke, come home with me, mom has fainted.” Xu Ke’s expression changed, and she hurriedly asked, “What happened? Wasn’t she fine when we left this morning?” Yin Wancheng quickly explained, “It’s not Mrs. Shao.” Xu Ke’s heart sank—was it Zhang Yueguang? Yin Wancheng quickly settled the bill and drove back to the Yin family home with Xu Ke. On the way, Xu Ke wondered if Zhang Yueguang’s long-term vegetarian diet had led to anemia or malnutrition. Otherwise, why would she suddenly faint?
