The Queen’s Path

Host: “So, Wilhelmina truly had no uncontrolled feelings for Hans Borg?”

Advisor: “If we could ask her heart…”

In the small Louvre, most portraits are related to political occasions. The Queen and Prime Minister Hans Borg often appear together in images. The famous ‘Gaze’ photo captures Hans Borg’s emotional expression towards Wilhelmina.

After Hans Borg’s memoirs were published, old photos and archival footage were organized, sparking speculation about their inner thoughts based on the expressions in the portraits.

Especially after the “Black Water Gate” incident, the Queen invited Hans Borg, who was retired and hunting on his estate, to help her manage the situation. Many believed that Wilhelmina used personal feelings to persuade Hans Borg to clean up the mess left by the previous prime minister.

Hans Borg had several girlfriends throughout his life, with the longest and most notable being Cynthia Steiman, the Queen’s lady-in-waiting. They were rumored to be engaged, but the engagement was soon broken off.

Cynthia later married a judge and lived to see Hans Borg’s memoirs published. Although she declined interview requests, she wrote a letter to the editor-in-chief of “Imperial Times,” stating, “They were noble and upright people who never violated any oath they made. They deserve respect and love. The relationships between our generation were very pure and beautiful. I miss them very much.”

With Wilhelmina’s accession to the throne, a new era began. They devoted their lives to long and arduous reforms, which continue to profoundly influence future generations.

The golden age endures.
