The Trials of Rebirth

Arriving at the courtyard and putting away Floating Cloud, I saw thousands of pear trees in full bloom. White petals scattered on the ground, the pear fragrance permeating the air, more refreshing than the flower groves of the divine realm.

In this white expanse, beside the pear trees, there was a peach tree covered in pink blossoms.

Seeing the spiritual energy surrounding it, I had just walked forward and hadn’t spoken when suddenly the pear flower forest was swept by a fierce wind. Branches trembled violently, dark clouds covered the sky, and the howling sounded like thousands of armies roaring.

Oh, what an impressive momentum. I clicked my tongue in praise. Though it was all just an illusion, it would be good for scaring mortals.

My face twitched as I lazily looked at its bloody fangs. If you’re going to scare someone, at least show some protruding teeth: “Which immortal god are you?”

The voice paused, then continued roaring, “I am the Earth Lord who manages the growth of all things in the world.

“Huh?” I frowned at it. “I’ve never heard of such a god. Are you trying to fool me?”

“Huh? Not known?” The voice muttered, “Sister Yu clearly said this god existed. Did I remember wrong?”

I silently shook my head. Rebirth, oh rebirth, bullying a child is really unfair.

“Actually, I…”

Before I could finish, a clean, crisp voice came from behind: “By my name, disperse.”

In an instant, the world became as clear as a mirror, and the pear blossom fragrance drifted away. Looking back, I saw a handsome man.

Wearing a lotus-blue long robe, his hair fully tied back, a long sword inserted behind him. His appearance was flawless as a spring, looking clean and elegant, truly possessing an immortal’s demeanor. I thought this must be the owner of the pear flower garden, the cultivator Jian Chen.

“Brother Chen.”

A girl’s bell-like voice rang out. A lovely woman in a pink dress stepped lightly next to Jian Chen and pointed at me, saying, “This person broke in. I was just teaching her a lesson.”

Jian Chen glanced at me, his gaze pausing momentarily, and said, “May I ask what brings the divine lord here?”

I smiled appreciatively: “I’m here on a mission, but not for you. I’m here for the peach spirit beside you.”
