The Trials of Rebirth

“Because I can’t control it,” Mo Jun Qing stroked the sword’s cold blade emotionlessly. “I can’t truly become its master. It still hasn’t chosen me.”

I pursed my lips, understanding somewhat the sorrow of sword masters. I spoke: “You sword practitioners are always exceptionally harsh on yourselves and your swords.”

Mo Jun Qing nodded: “Indeed.” Then he asked, “Are you really staying?”

“Seven days. Just seven days.”

Mo Jun Qing seemed to sigh softly: “Fine. I agree.”

I also breathed a sigh of relief, looking at the Chasing Sunset sword on the table, its cold aura intimidating. I’ll have a good chat with it tomorrow.

Damn, this man is so hard to chase!

Finding Mo Junqing again, I see him fighting with others, and I sit nearby with great interest, watching him deal with these people one by one. In the blink of an eye, Hei Bai Wuchang arrives to take away the souls.

Mo Junqing now sees me without any surprised expression.

“Don’t follow me anymore.”

“I’m just passing by.”

Mo Junqing falls silent, walks into an inn, sits down calmly, and orders food, tea, and water.

Here we go again.

I stare at him intently, determined not to eat anything this time. It’s amazing how he can remain calm while eating under my intense gaze.

When he’s almost finished eating, he calls the waiter and orders four or five more dishes.

I can’t help but ask, “Aren’t you afraid of stuffing yourself to death?”

“No.”

As the waiter brings the dishes, Mo Junqing suddenly stands up, clasps his fists, and bows to me: “Thank you, miss, for treating me. I’ll take my leave now.”

Huh? Before my brain can process this, I see him running away with the wind beneath his feet…

Mo Junqing! You’re dead meat!

Seeing me about to rush out, the waiter looks nervous: “Miss, that’ll be eighteen taels of silver, please… Hey, miss, where are you going? Please settle the bill first.”

I’m furious: “I have no money! And which eye of yours saw me eating! Go find that bastard.”

The waiter’s face turns dark, and he signals behind him: “Come, grab this freeloading woman and throw her into Wan Hua Lou.”

I’ve learned that you need money not just in the divine realm, but in the human world too. Unfortunately, I realized this too late, and I can’t even fight back.

So I was sold to Wan Hua Lou to pay off the debt.

The madam’s eyes nearly disappeared into slits when she saw me. But no matter how good the base looks, it can’t withstand a makeup artist’s destructive touch…

After bathing and changing into their clothes, I stand before the mirror. Madam, are you sure this isn’t a peacock spirit possessing me? This is clearly a peacock reborn!

Yet I have to smile as if I like it. Seeing me obedient, the madam locks me in a room and discusses with the procurer about finding a wealthy client for tonight.

Once they close the door and are out of my sight, I lift my colorful skirt, float down from the fourth-floor window, and lightly step across the rooftops, sprinting under the moonlight.

Now I have only three thoughts: one, strangle Mo Junqing; two, crush Mo Junqing; three, stab Mo Junqing to death.

Rebirth of the Famous Sword (Part 3)
With a determination to definitely kill Mo Junqing, I trace his breath and float into the inn in my divine form.

He’s already lying in bed, asleep. The uneven breathing tells me he’s not fully recovered. It took me three days to chase him, and I’ve lost my patience, deciding to take Zhuixi tonight.

Just as I reach the bedside, a childlike voice enters my ears: “Divine Lord.”

I pause, looking towards the sound. A white light floats out from under the covers, a child hovering in mid-air, lowering his eyes: “Why does Divine Lord keep following my master, wanting to serve him?”

I paused for a moment, sighing bitterly after a long time: “Perhaps it’s because of my relationship with the famous sword. Among the seventeen masters I have served, thirteen were taken from others. To control me and obtain my greatest power, they might have wanted to prove something to the world.”

He sighed, and I sighed along with him. I didn’t expect Mo Junqing to be so greedy, disregarding his clan members for personal gain. When facing pursuers, he killed without hesitation.

Zhuyi said again: “I beg the Divine Lord to let me stay by his side for these seven days. Even if we cannot become master and servant, I hope to repay his kindness.”

“It’s not that I won’t let you stay, but he won’t let me stay. I can’t break the rules.”

” Otherwise, my monthly salary would be deducted, and violating the heavenly decree would cost me forty gold bars – just thinking about it hurts.

Zhuyi thought for a moment and asked: “Where is the Divine Lord’s mortal body?”

“It’s here. You’re not thinking of turning me into an ordinary person for Mo Junqing to slice up, are you? In the middle of the night, he’d think I’m here to steal you.” I stroked my chin, “Actually, I am here to steal you.”

Zhuyi bowed slightly: “If the Divine Lord returns to mortal form now, I have a way to make him keep you.”

“Don’t,” I quickly waved my hand. “I’ll just take you away directly.”

I was afraid that if I stayed a moment longer, I might really strangle him.

“This method will definitely make him keep you,” Zhuyi insisted.

I twitched my mouth, seeing his determined expression, and took a step back: “Fine, if he doesn’t come to his senses, I’ll definitely take you away.”

“Okay. Please, Divine Lord, return to mortal form.”

I silently recited the spell and returned to my previous appearance. Mo Junqing was indeed quick, and with just a light breeze, he awoke and reached for the sword nearby.

Then I discovered that Zhuyi’s sword had somehow ended up in my hand. Before I could speak, my neck was already gripped, and my whole body was thrown onto the bed, with a cracking sound of bones – my sword-holding hand… was dislocated.

I desperately slapped him with my good left hand, nearly strangled.

Hey, wasn’t I supposed to be the one choking him? How did our roles reverse!

“Help… me.”

The grip suddenly loosened, and Mo Junqing’s voice carried a hint of probe: “Miss?”

“Miss your grandpa!” I rasped in the darkness, “Mo Junqing, go die, go die!”

Every word came from the bottom of my heart! May thunder strike me down if I tell a single lie!

The room was too dark to see anyone’s expression, but after my outburst, they were probably stunned. A hand reached out, slightly nervous: “That… I didn’t know it was you. I thought you were… someone from the martial world. How did you get into my room?”

I slapped his hand away: “Stealing Zhuyi, of course!”

A bitter laugh came from the other side, and another voice drifted to my ear: “Divine Lord, stop scolding and just cry.”

What? Cry? Is this your plan! My face twitched, but at this point, what’s a few tears? Finding the right position, I collapsed into his arms and wailed: “Mo Junqing, how could you be so heartless. I chased you from the valley to the tea shed, from the tea shed to the inn, and was even sold to a brothel to pay off debts. I have not a single coin left, and you keep plotting against me. Is your heart made of stone? Do you even have a heart?”

When mentioning the inn, I actually began to feel genuinely sad, and tears started falling.

Right now, I must look terrible, but since it’s too dark to see clearly, let it be.

Damn it, I’m crying and you still won’t move? I really want to light the lamp and see your expression. Can’t you show me some sympathy and wipe my tears?

Mo Junqing remained silent, releasing me: “Let me treat your wound first.”

As the lamp was lit, Mo Junqing brought medicine and was startled seeing me in red and green silk. I glared at him: “Just escaped from a brothel.”

Mo Junqing nodded: “I’ll find you some clothes later.”

“Make them beautiful, preferably bright red,” I added. “And soft fabric.”
