The Unmoving Bride

In the small hall, Shang Bieye sat silent, while Wu Yangfeng and Bu Yuchen watched like spectators. Yan Xinmeng, like a little bride, kept her head down, eyes wide open, not daring to say a word. After a long while, Shang Bieye said coldly, “Can you tell me what’s going on now?” His face was filled with tenderness. Yan Xinmeng had no choice but to recount everything from the moment she regained consciousness, including why Niu Qi wanted her to find the Time Mirror, but she left out the parts about her past life and Niu Qi being a ghost messenger, as such things would be dismissed as absurd. “There are many things I haven’t figured out myself, so I don’t know how to tell you.” Yan Xinmeng pleaded. Seeing her pleading expression, Shang Bieye decided not to press further. “Sigh, you girl.” Shang Bieye sighed. Knowing he wouldn’t ask further, Yan Xinmeng felt a weight lift from her heart. After several days together, the three knew Yan Xinmeng was a simple, kind-hearted girl, though a bit mischievous, she understood right from wrong. “Xinmeng, there are still some things I need to ask you.” Shang Bieye looked at her seriously. “Go ahead, Brother Shang.” Yan Xinmeng replied. “Have you seen that mirror?” “Oh, you mean the Time Mirror? No, I haven’t seen it!” Yan Xinmeng said embarrassingly, as she was supposed to find the mirror, yet she hadn’t even seen it, how could she find it? “Time Mirror? You mean that mirror is called the Time Mirror?” So the mirror had a name, the three thought. “Yes, it’s called the Time Mirror, Niu Qi told me because it has twelve hours painted on it, so it’s called the Time Mirror.” Yan Xinmeng confirmed. “Who is this Niu Qi you keep mentioning?”
