The Wary Affections of The CEO

She quickly changed clothes, freshened up, and left her room, easily discovering the house was empty, with a note on the refrigerator telling her lunch was inside and just needed to be microwaved.

Looking at the handwriting on his note, she couldn’t help but blush again.

What was this? He made her breakfast and thoughtfully prepared lunch, and what did she do?

Slept in her room, completely forgetting why she came here.

Thinking of this, she hurriedly grabbed her phone to call Ke Xueye.

She was somewhat surprised when Ke Xueye said she was at Yongsheng Memorial Hospital.

“What are you doing there?” Was she visiting someone?

Yongsheng Memorial Hospital was the Ke family’s property. Why was she there?

“It’s Thursday!” Ke Xueye’s voice sounded a bit strange, as if Yuan Xingcan had asked a stupid question.

“Thursday? What do you mean?” she asked, puzzled.

“I always volunteer in the peace ward on Thursdays!” she said into the phone, her voice less dramatically sharp and more gentle, perhaps because one must speak softly in a hospital.

A volunteer? A wealthy young lady volunteering at a hospital? She was a bit surprised. Not to create news or raise her profile, as this unknown act wouldn’t help her visibility.

So, did she genuinely want to do this and enjoy it?

“Can I come over?”

Her position as a consultant depended entirely on Ke Xueye, so she wanted to seize every opportunity to get along with her.

After considering, Ke Xueye said: “Will you bring reference books and test papers, teacher?”

“No,” she couldn’t help but laugh. Xueye was quick and humorous in some ways, and she was growing to like her more and more.

“Then, do you know there’s an artificial lake behind the hospital?”

“I’ve never been there, but I’ll ask someone.”

“I’ll be there,” Ke Xueye added: “There’s a mobile library in the afternoon, you’ll find me easily.”

Ke Xueye was right; she did find her easily.

Blue sky, white clouds, and green grass surrounded a clear artificial lake, with many people moving about, enjoying a leisurely afternoon.

A van converted into a mobile library was parked by the lake, with comfortable tables, chairs, and umbrellas set up around it. Many patients sat relaxed, reading.
