Chapter 41 – Extra: Eighty Years Ago Qi Shejiang woke from a dream, and felt something was off. The ground beneath him was hard, and it was dark in front of him, with not a glimmer of light. This sensation felt both strange and familiar, making Qi Shejiang almost believe it was a dream within a dream. Until the next moment, a voice rang out: “Shejiang, turn on the light.” It was clearly his master’s voice. Qi Shejiang was stunned until his master kicked his leg, and only then did he come back to his senses.
Qi Shejiang crawled out of bed, his heart filled with shock. Had he returned to the past, to a time when his master was still alive? Even in the dark, Qi Shejiang knew where everything was in the house.
He groped to find the oil lamp on the bedside and lit it, feeling a hint of nostalgia for the convenient electric lights. Having lit the oil lamp in the dim light, he saw his master’s dry but spirited face appear before him. His heart raced, and he quietly pinched himself. Great, it’s real! What year is it now? If he could avoid it ahead of time, the subsequent events wouldn’t happen, and his master, junior brothers, and junior sisters could all survive. Wait, speaking of this, his master’s wife had passed away long ago, but she left behind a daughter, which is his junior sister, and those few junior brothers should all be living at his master’s house. Why was it so quiet? Also, what about the original timeline? What would happen to Zhang Yue? Would he have to struggle to survive here until Zhang Yue was born? Qi Shejiang felt a bit at a loss. His master spoke, “Freshen up; we’re going to your senior brother’s house.” Confused, Qi Shejiang went to draw water, only to see his reflection looking young in the mirror, his original face but seemingly only seventeen or eighteen years old.
