Whose Love is Not Lonely

The phone rang again. Who could it be this time? Chu Yue sighed, picked up the phone. The screen showed: Woman Like the Wind. Her? Chu Yue couldn’t help but smile.

At this moment, she should have been on her honeymoon with Luo Xuan, a beautiful new bride. Chu E’s heart sank. Could it be that she already knew about her drunken slip of the tongue? She poured a glass of water and handed it to Lin Lan, her emotions complex.

If she didn’t know the truth, it would be fine, and she could still ask caringly, “What’s wrong?” But now, she really didn’t know how to face her! Should she hate her? Or pretend nothing had happened? Chu E sighed.

For the entire afternoon, Lin Lan sat there, holding a cup of water, her gaze unconsciously falling on a certain point, dazed and silent. Chu E simply sat with her all afternoon. The two of them didn’t exchange a single word from beginning to end. The setting sun’s afterglow slanted in through the window, falling on Lin Lan’s face, making her look even more lost.

As the night began to shroud the wilderness, Lin Lan stood up. Perhaps her leg had gone numb, and she stumbled, almost falling. “Careful!” Chu E couldn’t help but call out. Lin Lan turned to look at her, her expression complicated. Her lips moved slightly, as if hiding a thousand words, but ultimately she said nothing and simply opened the door and left.

After Lin Lan left, Chu E listened to the lingering sound of the beads colliding and zoned out for a while. What was wrong with her? Or what was wrong between her and Luo Xuan?

At night, Chu E lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. Luo Xuan’s phone call came at this moment: “Chu Chu, I want to see you!” His voice carried a hint of drunkenness. Chu E was startled and asked, “Luo Xuan, what’s wrong?”

“I want to see you!” Luo Xuan repeated.

Chu E sighed, “I’m sleeping!”

There was a moment of silence on the other end, and then he hung up. Chu E sat up from the bed, walked to the window, and lifted a corner of the curtain to look down. Luo Xuan’s car was parked downstairs.

Chu E opened the door and went downstairs. In the moonlight, Luo Xuan leaned against the car, and Chu E could smell the strong alcohol on him. “You’ve been drinking?” she frowned.

“Chu Chu!” Luo Xuan suddenly embraced her. Chu E was startled and quickly broke free from his embrace, “Luo Xuan, don’t do this!”

Luo Xuan looked at her. He involuntarily let her go.

“Luo Xuan,” Chu E asked, “what happened between you and Lin Lan?”

“Don’t mention that name to me!” Luo Xuan irritably ran his hand through his hair.

He was originally such a proud man, with no tolerance for the slightest flaw. When he first met Chu E, he was attracted by the deep melancholy in her eyes. The more they interacted, the more he discovered her goodness. To him, she was as sacred as a star in the sky – cold, elegant, noble, and pure. He felt only such a woman could match him, and he even had thoughts of protecting her for a lifetime. But Lin Lan told him that Chu E had once worked as a hostess in a nightclub due to financial difficulties, and the sadness in her eyes was because her life had been stained. Lin Lan had also begged him not to ask Chu E about this, because they were childhood friends, and she didn’t want anyone to mention this past.

He believed her and painfully distanced himself from Chu E. But he never imagined that Lin Lan had actually deceived him! If he hadn’t accidentally overheard Lin Lan’s drunken confession while watching Chu E struggling to help the drunk Lin Lan at the wedding, he would still be in the dark! How could he, always proud, accept such a thing happening to him? On their wedding night, looking at his completely drunk bride, he was disgusted. The day after the wedding, he started not coming home, turning off his phone. Lin Lan couldn’t find him, and their planned honeymoon was shelved.

Luo Xuan spent nights drinking in bars, his mind and heart full of Chu E’s every gesture, her melancholy, her lightness, her beauty! Unfortunately, he had so easily missed her!

“Chu Chu!” he looked at her sorrowfully, “Can you give me another chance?”

“You’re drunk!” Chu E said flatly, “Luo Xuan, go home. Lin Lan is waiting for you! Don’t forget, you just had your wedding. You can’t treat her like this!” Then she turned and walked away.

“Chu Chu!” Luo Xuan chased two steps, then dejectedly stopped. “Chu Chu,” he called, “if I divorce Lin Lan, can we start over?”

Chu E was stunned. “Are you crazy?” she said with difficulty.

Luo Xuan looked at her eagerly, “Chu Chu, I just need one word from you. As long as you nod, I can divorce Lin Lan immediately…”

Chen Chu came back like a whirlwind, standing directly in front of him, staring at him fiercely, and saying word by word: “Zhong Luoxuan, what do you take me, Shen Chu, for? Someone you can summon and dismiss at will? You’re looking down on me too much! I’m telling you, between us, it’s impossible now! Remember, it’s absolutely impossible, so give up!” After saying this, she went upstairs without looking back.

Luoxuan was completely stunned, standing there dazed, feeling like his heart had been hollowed out.

Luoxuan waited downstairs for Chu all night, and Lin Lan also sat in their wedding room all night.

In the early morning, Luoxuan finally returned home, drunk and exhausted.

The spacious wedding room was cold and quiet. Lin Lan, who hadn’t slept all night, looked as withered as a dying flower.

“You’re finally back?” She looked coldly at the unshaven Luoxuan, trying to suppress the fire in her heart.

Luoxuan said nothing and collapsed onto the bed.

Lin Lan didn’t know what went wrong. Why did her new husband disappear on their wedding night? Not only was their planned honeymoon canceled, but Luoxuan had been missing for two days without explanation. She had never suffered such humiliation. Where had he placed her? She looked for him, waited for him, hoping he would explain what had happened. But now that he was back, he was treating her as if she were invisible, so cold and indifferent!

She finally couldn’t bear it anymore and screamed: “Zhong Luoxuan, you bastard!” She grabbed his collar and said hatefully: “Tell me clearly, how have I wronged you, that you would humiliate me like this? If you don’t explain today, we can forget about living together…”

Luoxuan looked at her coldly, his eyes bloodshot: “I’d be happy to!”

Lin Lan was stunned, suddenly panicking. She loved Luoxuan to her core.

His father was the famous chairman of “Zhong’s Real Estate” with a net worth of over hundreds of millions. As the only son, he was set to inherit this vast fortune.

With this thought, Lin Lan’s attitude softened. She spoke softly, almost pleadingly: “Luoxuan, what happened? Why have you become like this? Did I do something wrong? Tell me, and I’ll change! I just beg you, don’t treat me like this…”

Lin Lan spoke passionately, but Luoxuan remained unmoved, looking at her coldly and indifferently. Tears immediately fell from Lin Lan’s eyes: “Luoxuan, I love you so much, to the point of losing myself, loving you to the marrow of my bones. When you’re happy, I’m happy. When you’re unhappy, I can’t be happy. If I’ve done something to anger you, tell me, I’ll change, I’ll definitely change…”

Luoxuan finally couldn’t help but coldly sneered: “Yes, you love me so much that you’re willing to damage a friend’s reputation to deceive me! Love to the point of using despicable means to separate me and Chu! Such love is truly… magnificent.”

“What did you say?” Like a thunderbolt, Lin Lan was stunned. She looked at Luoxuan with horror, asking with difficulty: “How… how do you know?”

“If you don’t want others to know, don’t do it!” With that cold statement, Luoxuan pushed her away and slammed the door.

In an instant, Lin Lan felt her world turn deathly silent.
