Chu Yue bit her lip hard, preventing herself from crying. Her mind replayed the scene of that winter night of picking her up. If a man doesn’t deeply love a woman, how could he suffer so much for her? All her hopes crumbled, and tears finally fell.
Chu’e was alone in a bar, drinking herself into oblivion. She lay on the bar counter, hoping to drown her sorrows, but the bitterness in her heart remained unresolved.
Soon, her thoughts began to blur, and her head spun.
“Miss, may I buy you a drink?” A man next to her offered a glass of alcohol. Chu’e lazily lifted her head, looking at him with bleary, drunken eyes. She knew she was drunk and shouldn’t drink anymore, but she took the drink and downed it in one gulp.
“What a great drinking capacity, miss!” The man said, his ordinary features seeming to glow under the bar lights. “Let me buy you another drink!” He immediately signaled the bartender.
“No, I can’t drink anymore, I… I want to go home!” Chu’e mumbled, wobbling as she tried to get up from the bar. The man quickly offered, “Where do you live? Let me take you home!” Without waiting for a response, he supported her and grabbed her bag from the bar, guiding her unsteady body outside.
Chu’e struggled, “Go away, I… don’t want you to take me!”
” But the man held her tightly, making it impossible for her to break free. He was determined not to let his prey escape easily, pushing and half-carrying her out of the bar.
The cold wind hit her face, sobering her up halfway. “Who are you? Where are you taking me?”
The man looked at her beautiful face with a lustful gaze. “I’m here to protect you, miss. How about coming with me for some fun?”
“Get lost, you bastard!” She tried to break free from his arms. But her small frame was no match for the large, strong man. In no time, he dragged her into a dim alley next to the bar.
“Help!” Chu’e screamed, but her cry was immediately muffled by the man’s hand. The alley’s dim light cast shadows on his face, making him look increasingly menacing. Chu’e’s eyes widened in terror.
