Whose Love is Not Lonely

When the doorbell rang and woke her up, Chu Yue suddenly realized she had unknowingly fallen asleep on the living room sofa, the book in her hand now fallen on the floor. Who could it be at this moment? Could it be Gu Yunzhi returning? Did he forget something?

Chu Yue didn’t bother to pick up the book, rushing to open the door. When she saw who it was, her smile froze on her face. “How is it you?” she exclaimed.

Luo Xuanmin looked at her sensitively: “Who are you waiting for?”

“No one,” Chu Yue laughed evasively. “Do you have something for me?”

“Well,” Luo Xuan raised an eyebrow, “aren’t you going to invite me in to sit?” He walked in directly, ignoring Chu Yue’s expression.

“Luo Xuan,” Chu Yue stammered, “we’d better not see each other again in the future!”

“Why?” Luo Xuan looked at her sharply.

Chu Yue was somewhat angry, “You know exactly why!”

“Because of Lin Lan?” Luo Xuan sneered, “Does she have that qualification?”

Chu Yue laughed in disbelief, “How does she not qualify? She’s your wife…”

Luo Xuan interrupted her, “If she hadn’t deceived me, how would she have gotten the position of my wife…”

Luo Xuan has not appeared in front of Chu E since that day. Chu E knew that he was truly heartbroken this time. Such a proud man, how could he bear her ridicule and blow!

It was Lin Lan who unexpectedly called to invite Chu E for tea. Thinking of the humiliation at the cafe that day, Chu E’s mood remained unsettled, and without hesitation, she coldly said, “Sorry, I’m busy with a new book, no time!”

Lin Lan sighed on the other end and hung up the phone. She originally wanted to thank her, but she didn’t even give her a chance to say thanks! Lin Lan finally knew that she and Chu E could never return to the way they were before.

She stood in the bustling crowd, her gaze sweeping across unfamiliar faces, feeling incredibly lonely and cold inside.

Luo Xuan had been quiet recently, going to work on time, leaving on time, eating the meals she made.

She had thought he had finally changed his mind, but one night, when she got up to use the bathroom, she found no one beside her. Panicking, she got up and searched everywhere, finally finding him on the rooftop, holding a bottle of alcohol, sitting in a rocking chair with his eyes closed, drinking gulp after gulp.

Lin Lan was stunned. She stood there silently, not daring to approach or disturb him. She had never seen Luo Xuan like this! In her memory, he was always sunny, handsome, proud, laughing without a care. But at this moment, Luo Xuan looked so helpless, so desolate, so sad! A surge of indignant emotion rose up, and Lin Lan desperately covered her mouth to prevent herself from crying out.

She didn’t know how long she had stood on the rooftop, only feeling her legs going numb. Luo Xuan, drunk, had fallen asleep in the rocking chair. Lin Lan wiped the cold tears from her face, went downstairs, brought up a thin blanket, and gently covered Luo Xuan. At the moment she stood up, she was struck by lightning and stood frozen – there were tear tracks at the corner of Luo Xuan’s eyes! He had cried!

This realization shocked Lin Lan! She was stunned for a long time! She knew he had gone to find Chu E and knew Chu E had driven him away, but she never expected that Chu E’s rejection would hit him so hard! Could it be that she had been wrong, and Luo Xuan had truly loved only Chu E from beginning to end? So, what was she?

Lin Lan’s heart was deeply wounded. She had always been self-confident, believing that her looks and body could firmly control Luo Xuan, but she never expected that she could control his body but not his heart! Her legs went weak, and she collapsed to the ground.

“Zhong Luoxuan, you bastard!” Lin Lan murmured, her gaze blurry, her body gradually shifting from struggling to cooperation, her limbs wrapping around him like supple grass. At this moment, Luoxuan suddenly felt a sense of conquest, as he had always been conquered by Lin Lan before, but this time, he was conquering her! He moved excitedly, releasing himself fully amid her wanton and wet moans.

At the moment of climax, he felt a complete release throughout his body, the sensation so refreshing and gratifying that he involuntarily cried out: “Chu Chu, Chu Chu, Chu Chu…”

“Slap!” Lin Lan struck him across the face. Instantly, everything fell silent. Luoxuan came to his senses, seeing Lin Lan’s eyes filled with tears, looking at him with disgust, and said hatefully: “Zhong Luoxuan, you make me sick!” Then she stormed out, slamming the door.

Luoxuan collapsed onto the bed, feeling utterly defeated. Could he not forget her no matter what? Oh heavens, tell me, what should I do?

The sound of a car starting came from outside. Luoxuan lay on the bed, motionless. Lin Lan, seeing he wasn’t chasing after her, felt even more desperate. Gritting her teeth, she drove out of the villa.

Never had she hated herself more than at this moment! She hated why she had gotten drunk at the wedding reception, hated why she had spoken about that incident, hated how heaven had arranged for Luoxuan to hear it at that moment! If everything could be redone, Lin Lan would never drink at the wedding reception, preventing embarrassment and serious consequences for her married life. Oh God, just let time return to the past!

But time would not heed anyone’s prayers; it continued to slip through her fingers, leaving only a gray trace. Lin Lan drove aimlessly through the streets, not knowing where to go.

The clock struck midnight, and the streets were still bustling. A sharp, urgent horn sounded from ahead. Lin Lan looked up blankly, a dazzling white light hitting her face, causing her to instinctively squint. By the time she clearly saw the car weaving ahead, it was too late. With a loud bang, the two cars crashed violently. Lin Lan’s head struck the glass hard, and before she could react, she felt intense pain and passed out. In that moment of losing consciousness, she mustered all her strength and cried out: “Luoxuan…”

Chu E learned about Lin Lan’s car accident the next morning through a phone call from Luoxuan. Hearing this bad news, she was so shocked that she knocked over her bowl of porridge. Recovering, she grabbed her bag and rushed out.

When she arrived at the hospital, Lin Lan was still unconscious. Mr. and Mrs. Zhong had just left after keeping vigil all night. In the hospital room, Luoxuan looked haggard, with sunken eye sockets and bloodshot eyes. “How is she? What did the doctor say?” she asked anxiously.

“No life-threatening injuries, but she has a head trauma with a mild concussion! We’ll know more details after she wakes up!” Luoxuan said, still in shock. “The other driver was drunk driving. Fortunately, she was wearing a seatbelt.”

He didn’t finish, but Chu E understood the potential consequences. However, she couldn’t understand why Lin Lan would be driving to such a remote place so late at night, and why she didn’t return home.

Under her questioning gaze, Luoxuan guiltily lowered his head. When Lin Lan had driven away in anger, he had lain in bed, thinking she was just going for a drive and would return once she calmed down. But he never expected her to have an accident!

Speeding to the hospital and waiting outside the operating room, he finally felt afraid. Then, guilt. This was the first time he felt guilty towards Lin Lan.

Seeing his distressed state, Chu E knew he was suffering and didn’t want to interrogate him further. She sighed softly, “Go rest somewhere. You’ve been here all night and must be tired. I’ll stay and watch. I’ll call you when Lin Lan wakes up.”

Luoxuan hesitated, knowing he should stay and wait for her to wake up, but thinking about how he would face her, he nodded and gave her a grateful look before leaving the room.
