After searching several times without success, she sat exhausted on the sofa. She had wanted to lie on the floor but was deterred by the various equipment that might capture an unflattering photo.
Just as she was resting, urgent footsteps suddenly approached outside. She was stunned and instinctively rushed to lock the door. The next second, someone was trying to turn the doorknob.
Zhou Yanran, unable to open the door, angrily turned to someone behind her: “Go find the spare key. Remember, don’t let anyone else know.”
Hearing Zhou Yanran’s voice, Tao Yu became nervous. She instinctively wanted to hide but, thinking about eliminating the resentment, furrowed her brow and continued searching.
Zhou Yanran easily heard the movements inside, growing more anxious and urging the key-finder to hurry.
After searching everywhere, Tao Yu finally looked at the sofa she had sat on, not believing Yue Linying would hide something in such an obvious place, but searching nonetheless.
After thoroughly searching the sofa, she quickly spotted a hidden box underneath. Her eyes brightened, and seeing it was locked, she smashed it on the ground.
As the box shattered and its contents fell out, the door opened, and Zhou Yanran walked in with a cold face.
Tao Yu quickly clutched the item to her chest. Because it was large, Zhou Yanran saw it at a glance. Furious, she demanded: “It’s you again. What did you steal? Hand it over!”
“Nothing. This is mine,” Tao Yu held it tighter, her gaze secretly drifting to the door, planning to escape.
Zhou Yanran noticed her intention and immediately had someone close the door. With four or five burly men around her and Tao Yu alone, the outcome was clear.
“Grab the item,” she laughed triumphantly, “and then have Ms. Tao sit down. I have some accounts to settle with her.”
Hearing this, Tao Yu was terrified. Forgetting all professional elegance, she darted left and right, refusing to let go of the item. However, outnumbered, she was soon cornered.
If the item fell into Zhou Yanran’s hands, all her efforts would be in vain, and Yue Linze’s resentment might never dissipate. Seeing the approaching men, she gritted her teeth and fell to the ground, stomping on the item with her high heels, trying to destroy it.
