Tao Yu became more serious and sincere, “If you’re willing to tell me.”
The room fell into silence after her words, followed by a long, quiet standoff as they tried to read something in each other’s eyes.
After a long time, Yue Linze’s cool fingers hooked Tao Yu’s chin, forcing her to tilt her head back, exposing her delicate, vulnerable neck.
Tao Yu’s throat moved, trying to be as obedient as possible. The light shattered into millions of pieces in her eyes, making them sparkle. Her expression was gentle, yet with a hint of defiance.
This expression,” Yue Linze admired her face, his other hand caressing her eye corner, “looks so docile, as if I’ve tamed you, but I know the one being tamed was never you.”
Tao Yu was stunned for a moment, then a thought surfaced in her mind, and she looked at Yue Linze in shock.
How could this be possible?! She had hidden it so well, how could Yue Linze have discovered?!
“You told me,” the fingers pinching her earlobe gradually applied pressure, only releasing after seeing her pained expression.
Tao Yu stared blankly at him, “When did I…”
“Your eyes, lips, tone of speech, subtle movements, everything is telling me,” Yue Linze’s lips curved, asking softly, “You don’t love me, right?”
His brows and eyes looked gentle at this moment, his voice calm and magnetic, filled with love from his gaze to his tone, yet Tao Yu inexplicably felt a chill run through her body.
Her throat tightened, instinctively wanting to refute, but facing such eyes, she couldn’t say a word.
She never imagined Yue Linze had seen through her lies, and had developed new psychological trauma because of her deception.
Yue Linze waited patiently, like an extremely tolerant wild beast waiting for its prey to discover it.
After a while, Tao Yu lowered her head in defeat, “I’m sorry.” No wonder his hostility had never been completely eliminated; it was all because of her cleverness.
She never expected that her elaborate scheme would ultimately worsen his condition. Tao Yu felt extremely discouraged.
Yue Linze lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze, and after a long moment, pulled her into his embrace, resting his head on her shoulder and asking, “Since you don’t like me, why be so good to me?”
