Beauty’s Doom

“Who says owners have to be as busy as the staff! I’m tired, and I want to rest!” I hugged a nearby pillar, refusing to let go.

Yu Nao was persistent, pulling me with all her might. “No, there are so many customers outside in chaos. If you don’t go and support them, everyone will be overwhelmed!”

I refused to compromise: “Su Yao is outside. Why don’t you go find her?”

Yu Nao glared at me angrily, “Su Yao is upstairs entertaining the officials and is overwhelmed. If the staff finds out you’re like this, how will they ever respect you?”

“Fine, fine! I’ll go out!” I reluctantly let go of the pillar.

Just as I lifted the curtain and reached the counter, I saw Su Yao slowly walking down the stairs, her right hand holding her left arm, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, looking utterly exhausted. I couldn’t help but ask with concern, “Su Yao, are you okay?”

She looked up, saw me, and immediately smiled, weakly saying, “Xin Ran, you’ve come at the right time. Let me introduce a customer to you!”

Unwilling to see her so tired, I smiled and said, “Where’s the customer? I’ll go meet them myself. You should find a place to rest! Don’t exhaust yourself!”

She nodded, “Okay, the customer is upstairs, at the first table by the window.”

I had Yu Nao carry my specially prepared fruit salad and went upstairs. Just as I reached the top step, my legs suddenly went weak. Fortunately, someone behind me caught me in time, preventing me from falling down the stairs.

I rubbed my slightly dizzy forehead and said, “Thank you, Yu Nao!”

“Huh?” I looked up, seeing her standing right in front of me, and frowned, “Weren’t you right behind me? When did you move ahead?”

“Just when you were about to fall!”

Suddenly realizing this question, I turned around and unexpectedly met a pair of eyes as dark as obsidian, bright as the morning star, filled with infinite emotions – so familiar!

Immediately, I was embraced in a warm, broad chest.
