“You’re giving these to me? Really?” May’s mouth gaped in joyful surprise.
“Work time has started,” Shao Pingxi softly reminded her flower-dazed subordinate to prepare for work.
“Yes! I’ll go right away.” Though she had only worked with this beautiful female boss for three weeks, May clearly understood Shao Pingxi’s boundaries. “Thank you for generously giving me the flowers,” she said before leaving the office.
Shao Pingxi had no reaction to her subordinate’s thanks.
Anyway, the flowers and gifts from her pursuers would all end up in the trash. If anyone found those trash can contents useful, they could take them without hesitation.
Just as she was about to start her day’s work, the door to Shao Pingxi’s office suddenly opened.
“May, you should knock—” She furrowed her brow and looked up.
May, this assistant, was energetic and vibrant when working, and could be as meticulous and precise as her boss when focused. Her work capabilities were impeccable, though she tended to talk a bit too much and sometimes forget basic office etiquette.
Just as she was about to remind May of proper office protocol again, Shao Pingxi froze when she saw the person’s face.
“Sorry, I forgot to knock,” Huo Junren rapped on the door a few times. Though he said “sorry”, his tone carried no hint of apology.
Since reporting the Yi Zhi matter in the CEO’s office, Huo Junren had gone to the US branch, reportedly to handle some urgent situation that required the CEO’s personal intervention.
This trip to the US had lasted three weeks.
Even when not at Huo’s company, Huo Junren could still control and manage the headquarters operations across the ocean.
When she first heard about his business trip, Shao Pingxi’s first feeling was disappointment.
That feeling was so clear, she had no chance to even deceive herself.
Immersing herself in work was the best way to cut off thoughts of him.
But no matter how busy she was or how high the files piled on her desk, she would still think of Huo Junren several times each day.
He was like a phantom that came and went without a trace, suddenly invading her mind when she thought she could temporarily forget him, reminding her—he would not be forgotten!
