Candidates for Mrs. CEO

The secretary found it strange. Colleagues had said this newly appointed beautiful manager was straightforward, but now she seemed somewhat evasive.

“Is there anything I can help you with?” the secretary asked patiently.

Shao Pingxi looked at the secretary, a thousand thoughts flashing through her mind.

After returning home yesterday, Shao Pingxi carefully considered every detail during the elevator malfunction. With only her and Huo Juren in the elevator, the person who held her hand and pulled her back from the brink of panic must have been him.

Although after leaving the elevator, his face was nothing but cold and showed no sign of having extended a helping hand, Shao Pingxi was certain that the male hand in the elevator was not a product of her hallucination.

Regardless of their previous emotional entanglements, he had helped her, and this was an indisputable fact.

She should thank him and express her gratitude—it was precisely for this reason that she had taken the initiative to find him today.

But the closer she got to the CEO’s office, the more her heart rate increased, as if challenging how intense a heart could bear.

Besides arrhythmia, her anxious emotions grew increasingly intense as she drew closer to the CEO’s office.

What was she hesitating about? It was just a simple thank you! She might as well treat him like an ordinary person!

That’s right! She had already come this far, so there was no harm in going in to thank him in person.

“…Is Mr. Huo available?” Shao Pinxi spoke up, not giving herself a chance to waver or change her mind.

She had never known herself to be so indecisive – she who had always been decisive and straightforward.

Only Huo Juren could make her unlike herself.

The secretary smiled apologetically, “I’m sorry, Manager Shao, Mr. Huo is catching up with a friend.”

Upon hearing this, Shao Pinxi was momentarily stunned. “Catching up? A friend?”

If Huo Juren were meeting a client, she wouldn’t be surprised, but a friend catching up left her momentarily bewildered.

Huo Juren was a workaholic who spent most of his time in the office. As far as she knew, he rarely met friends at the company.

So, who was this friend in the CEO’s office?
